im looking into ordering suspension parts for my formula and just had a few questions about installation. can i remove and install LCA's, Torque Arms, and PHR's with the car on the ground or do the wheels have to be up in the air? never done them b4. how important are the spherical rod ends? would i be ok to get just one sided spherical rod ends, or both sides?

No it has to be installed up in the air. Especially torque arm seeing as how it will be hard as HELL to get it installed in your driveway anyway. Spherical rod ends are a good idea!!!...and go with UMI their products are top notch!

Spherical rod ends are for track/race cars only.

People do run them on the street but be aware that 1) they wear out over time and have to be replaced and 2) they are very noisy and transmit more harshness to the car and to you...making the car less fun to ride in.

99% of people on this board will never push their cars hard enough to know the difference, so stock with the poly bushings.

Car has to be up, i'm in fact doing mine right now. Jack the car up, put the front tires on ramps or like i did, a stack of 2x 12's. Then jack up the rearend and put jack stands on the rear frame rails, NOT THE AXLE. Next, raise the Diff so that the LCA's are parallel to the ground. SOAK ALL THE BOLTS in PB nut buster. For the LCA's you are gonna need a couple of 18mm boxed in wrenches. You wont be able to get an impact in there. I had some problems with the rear lca bolts, I had to cut them off, they were a M F!!!!!

Good choice with UMI, you will love the parts. that is where all my suspension came from, I bought during the Mess. board discount promotion. Good luck, you have your work cut out for ya.

BTW, did you get the Lube from them as well?????

PB nut buster.
:roflmao: its called PB Blaster, and that shit works great

and i dont mean to hi-jack, but are adjustable components really worth it, on say a stock ride height car?

What's wrong with callin it PB nut buster...lol

Anyway, adjustable Lca's and Panhard and TA are a good way to go, also lca relocate brackets (the ones with 3 positions) It just gives you more flexability at the track or if you auto X.

ok, well i guess what im asking is, lets say i dont have any plans on changing the height of the car, what is adjustable going to do for me

like i understand about the TA and pinion angle, but the LCAs and PHB, other than a lowered car, what are they gonna do for me, i guess it could help getting the alignment dead nuts, but is that it?

The lca's can be lowered at the track to preload the suspension for a good launch. ADJ. Panhard will center the rear end in the car.

lowered as in moving the front of the lca's down or the rear of the lca's? im not very knowledged on adjusting suspension for performance.

yea, that PB nut buster kicks ass. use it all the time on my truck.

I just bought UMI adj. panhard, LCA, and their boxed weld in SFC. I have 15x10 Prostars and 325 Nittos, and I need to figure out a good way to stop the rubbing on the inside of the tire. What is a good adjustment for those? I won't be able to put the car on ramps, just jack up the rear. I think I'll be fine with clearance. I am not purchasing lube at this moment, going to wait a couple weeks.

If you want to keep from rubbing the inside of your fender with tire, buy a BFH.

If you want to keep the lower edge of the wheel-well from rubbing then you need some adjustable LCA's

I already bashed the shit out of the fender, I know that. But the LCA's and PHB will help center it so it doesn't rub as much, and I was asking what a good setting would be. It's rubbing where the bump stop is, like the piece above the actual bump stop, and a little on the bumps over there. I took a grinding wheel and started grinding it down.
