I was on the way back from Wally world a few days ago and a 350Z slid up on my rear 1/4 .. he acts like he will just slap it into 1st and shoot past me lil did he know i would do the same and we rocket down Stage road at 125 ish .. just as he gave up i thought i would add a lil insult to injury and keep rockin down the road just as i shifted into 4rth about 6000 rpms the damn thing gave out and it seems to me like what ever hydraulic unit dealing with depressing the engine out put to trans input failed and the car just stopped pulling "Thank god the 350z did not see my short coming" .. any ideas on what failed ? the trans was just replaced in august of 05 .. lemme know fellas

Ok so here's an update .. took it to one of my buddies who specializes in T56 .. first thing we noticed , slave cylinder .. so i went and shelled out the 60 bucks for one and while replacing the old one started removing old chunks of clutch material .. im guessin those aint factory extras as the car simply wont pull now .. lol what clutch do most of you use .. getinthere's shop is building me a 383 stroker that should dish out close to 500 hp .. with forged components so i will be spraying .. 200 shot ? whats the best clutch for my needs seems like 3 major manufactures , centerforce , zoom and spec .. im thinking a least ill need a stage 3 clutch should i step to the 4 on a daily driver ?

Most clutches are rated for tq numbers, so keep those in mind when selecting one.

I've got a friend that daily drove a Spec V and loved it. I drove it once or twice and really didn't feel any difference between his and my Spec III

Ram makes good, solid clutches too...

The McLeod Street twin is the hands down best LT1 clutch made, but its a PITA for a daily driver. I'd say SPEC stage III but I'm not the final word by any means. RAM's LT1 stuff doesn't quite have the reputation their LS1 clutches have. SPEC however seems to have a better rep in the LT1 crowd than the LS1 crowd.

I have a Spec stage 3 in my car holds like h*ll with no slipping at all, that's with 555.5 ft lbs of torque at the wheels, but I personally wouldn't want to drive it around on a daily bases. Just my .02.

My buddy dropped a Stage 3 in his SS, but DID NOT allow proper break-in, so be careful the first 500 miles or so!

He learned the hard way

ive heard bad things as of late about centerforce. i myself will be investing in the spec stage 3. so what exactly is the 'break-in procedure' for a new clutch? just basically going easy on it for around 500 miles?

put the right clutch in first, the mcleod twin disc.. now i kno that i race in heavier cars, but ive even seen f bodys break the spec 4.

if your makin 500ish hp and then a 200 shot, thats gonna be an IMENSE amount of torque. get a bulletproof rear and the mcleod and then jus have extra sets of ring gears sitting around LOL

just my 2 cents
