i got my engine in. lt1 with a 383 crank and a big cam. wont start but cranks. backfireing out the right end. should i send my comp. out? oh and do u think that the stock injectors has anything to do with it. its pushing 400 on dydo with carb set up....24# is what it is...i cant beleive its not starting...really fustrating.

It should fire at least once, but an initial tune would help it to stay running longer. Any chance the
optispark was damaged? The stock injectors should be ok for a little bit, but obviously won't make optimal power.

well how would u check if the opti is still working. it worked when i toook it off. and now it acts like it wants to start but not. sounds like timing. i dont want to pull the opti if its not it. im geting spark. just not running thanks.

Did you re-install making sure the cam dowel was in the right slot on the back of the opti? I'd check the obvious stuff like that before I went and bought a tune.

You don't move the dowel pin, you take the opti off and reinstall it so it goes over the dowel pin correctly.

Well I guess you could move the dowel but that would be done by rotating the crank.

You'll see what I mean when you get it all apart.

See the three rectangular slots? See that one of them is wider and more square? That's the one that has to fit over the cam dowel pin, otherwise the timing will be 120* off.
