So I'm trying to save some money on gas since I drive my car so much...

I've got 15x8's with 26x10.5 ET Drags for the track. I might step-up to a 15x10 with 26x11.5's, but I don't know if I'll need that yet... So right now I'm planning on staying with my 15x8's.

I'm thinking about getting another set of 15x8's for the street. I might step-up to 10's, we'll see.

What's the dimensions on the tallest tire I can run so highway RPMs will drop a bit?

Thanks!

Do you mean how tall of a tire can you run on the highway?

If so, you could run a 28" tire on a 15" rim but it will have quite a bit of sidewall.

I don't care about the sidewall that much... I'm talking more of a fitment issue. I've got dimensions for a ~27-ish tire that'll fit a 15x10... Curious what I can fit with a 15x8.

I might sack-up and go for a 16x8 or 10. Don't know if Weld makes those sizes though. This is all just kinda trying to figure out what I can and can't do before I make any DD wheel/tire combo decisions

I am not sure if you've seen a 28" radial tire on a 15" rim but there is a fair amount of rubber there - especially for a 4th gen.

That being said, I am sure I'll run 28"s and 4.33s when I get a 9".

I've got 28's on my 15x10 draglites. I like the way it looks. But I want to sell my Draglites and get some Pro Stars.

im looking at these 17x11 rims for the rear of my formula and 17x9.5 in front. the tire size for the rear will be 315/35ZR17 and the fronts are 275/40ZR17. question is with a formula. will i have to beat in the rear fenderwells like you have to on the camaro? or will i be ok?

yeah, you'll need a BFH for that.

I'm happy with my drag tire size, I'm just trying to find a huge-ass street radial to keep my highway RPM's down :)

how bad is it? a little tweak or just sit under it beating it until you cant lift your arms anymore?

There's nothing really behind the inner fender wells. Just got bit by bit. YOu'll also need to remove the bump stop.

i upgraded my old truck from 28 inch tall tires to 31s hoping to get better highway milage...it DIDNT WORK. takes much more power to turn the big ol tires than it did the tiny ones, especially around town. my gas milage dropped from about 13 to 11mpg on the highway even with the torquey 351 (i know i know i had a ford SORRY) no fun. needless to say that truck is gone. same thing happened to another buddy who went 28s to 32s, his dropped from 20mpg to 15 (a 4 liter ranger). i know its trucks but, it might help.

stock gears in both those situations?

I'm running 4.22's so I don't think 2 more inches will put me into an 'under-gear' situation, lol
