probably will end up including labor too, so both i guess. i have acess to a lift, but i am not sure if i want to take on a transmission swap.

Chris 96 WS6 along with myself a another friend did the M6 conversion on his car.
There is a lot of work involved as well as buying interior parts, pedals, shifter and so on.
A new tune has to be loaded in as well as splicing into the wiring harness.

You're looking roughly $4000 for the parts (new) and anywhere from $400-$900 in labor.

Find someone who wants to do an M6 to A4 swap and trade everything with them. That's what I did. I was able to trade my entire T56 set-up for a complete Stage 5 4L60E set-up with a buddy.

hmmmm.....what are other options for having a good built auto? and is anyone looking to do a conversion soon? or dose anyone have m6 lying around to be bought off your hands? if there are no major modifications that i need to do besides pedals and center console i should be able to handle it with a lift, tranny lift abnd a few friends, would i be able to get it mounted in one day how long did yours take?

We took 2 days to do the complete swap, but that's because we forgot to buy a new pilot bearing. It can be done in a day with some help.

Here's a list of parts you'll need:
shifter
shifter knob
transmission
bellhousing
transmount
pilot bearing
tranny crossmember
clutch
flywheel
hydraulics
pedal assembly
shift plate
flash pcm to M6
M6 wiring harness
upper center console piece

You can use the same driveshaft.

Oh sure, the 4L60E can be beefed up pretty well. Contact our sponsor Rock On transmissions.

You also might want to PM LS13RDGEN as he does some trans work on the side.

You can beef up an A4 pretty well and along with a good converter, you will still come in ALOT cheaper than the M6 conversion.
Also with the M6 conversion, if you don't beef up the M6 then stuff will break. I know from experience.
If you are interested in buying a built 4L60E, click a sponsor.
Feel free to shoot me a message if you are interested in a less expensive route.
