Well, I alredy have my Exhaust paid off, just waiting for my income tax to appear. ( SLP Loudmouth on its way :D )

Since I'm building a computer right now to sell ,I'll have about 300-500 more than i origianlly had planned.
As you already know, I have asked questions about headers.
But new info has arisen from the shadows.

Stall's!

There is alot of good talk @ Ls1tech about Fuddle Converters. ( and, there only 4-$500
Since i only use my car for everyday driving, how long will one last?

I have GU2 ( 2.73's ) and I was wondering what a good stall would be for just basic bolts ons ( intake, exhaust, maybe headers )

I want something that doesnt sacrifice good city and highway driving, but has a little more punch to it then the one I have.

im thinkin 2600....
How will this affect my idle?
Should i also get a tranny cooler?

The stall will not can your idle. I would get a tranny cooler and a shift kit. Go with a company like vigilante or yank. You get what you pay for.JMO

We've got a couple of guys with Fuddle converters, they're supposed to be a very good product.

I'd say you might as well go with a 3k. Chris, what size was Lee's converter? His drove REAL nice :)

Oh yeah....stall speed isn't going to hurt your idle. Where you get into trouble is with big cams where you need to idle them higher to keep the car from dyiing...and the stock converter won't let you raise the idle enough and you end up not being able to hold the car still at a redlight in "D".

Listen chris,
on a personal note.

I DID not mean anything by what I typed to JBAT.
I know it looked and came across that way, but all I can say is Idid not mean it that way.

I have total respect for an Fbody owner.

I meant that it made "me" feel smart because there are lot of things that still puzzle me on these cars.

I have worked and upgraded a couple cars and trucks, and i certainly understand where your P.O.V. is coming from.
I just hope you guys understand mine.

And once again I apologize for any mis-consceptions and comments i have posted that you guys feel were irrelevant.

I am not like that, and I am truly sorry.

I am man enough to admit that.

No hard feelings you apologized to the guy and he said he was fine apologized to chris its all good. We can put it in the past. A good street stall is like a 3200 or something. With a hefty cam bump it to a 36 or 4k. But even on a stock car a 3200 or something would turn your car into a beast. But will kill your trans quick. I would get a tranny cooler on a stock car. Keeps it cool and get you a nice shift kit and youll be good. But for an lt1 with torque peak at 2400 a stall will make your car a beast off the tree with some gears and some tires.

Alot of guys are sayin these converters only last 2-3 years?
( fUDDLE )
Is that from hard usage?
If I was to buy a Fuddle, Put on a Cooler and only use it for DD.... of course i like to giver some juice once in awhile but im not an all out dragbag, how long do you guys think it would last?

Never had a problem with my old stall...it was the trannys being killed by the stalls. Fuddle stalls are VERy good products BTW, i talked to him a few times he is a badass dude. Great products.

A transmission cooler is an absolute must for any stall converter.
Fuddle has a good rep, and if you call them they will tell you what to buy for your application.
BTW, they also have a 2 year warranty, where all the others have 1 year, IIRC.
My Fuddle is in my living room, just itching to be installed.:D

I am gonna go against some of the grain for your set-up... As noted earlyer, LT1's power band starts lower in the RPMs then LS1's do.
I know alot of guys will jump at the big stall but you have to give the motor what it wants.. the LT1 has a beautiful tq curve that is broad and flat as your GF's booty. If you use too high a stall you are losing part of what make the LT1 great...
I would stay in the 2500-3000 range for your set-up no higher... I have a buddy runnin a bolt on LT1 with a baby 2800 stall that gives ALOT of LS1 owners FITS ;)

(oh and a side note, a cars idle with a cam is in the tune in ALOT more places then idle speed... I have what some people might consider a big cam (read more(yes more...) then 240 duration at .050 and I idle at 900 all day in park and 700ish in gear....)

+1, i know if seen the car do it..... and just as well my cam is .240+ in duration and it took tuning in a lot of places as well.

the torque peak is at 2400? REALLY?? I did not know that. My caddy's peak was at 3000(I could feel it wake way up around 3000), and it was all stock, except valve springs, catback, and a home depot intake. My cadillac even has a cam duration of 195, vs an F-body 205. (ballparks)

With 2.73's, it's good to stay on the lower end of the stall, because that kinda gear(or lack of) will bump the stall a bit. But it will still be fun. IIRC gears(meaning like 3.73's) help a stall, more than a stall(meaning like 2800) helps gears. The higher stall will effect your city milage, but not your highway. So long as you get a convertor that locks up.

take the 2.73 out your car will never be fast with them in

and stall it from 2800 - 3200 if you dont wanna go to fast

2.73 pshhhhhhhh go 4.10 if your really wanna go with a 3600 stall and a trans cooler youll spend the same money and run hella better times and at 80 miles an hour youll be barely above 2000 rpm

forget the 3600 for an LT1!!!!! it loses alot of torque! keep it at a 3000 but if you wanna go fast 2.73 GOTTA GO
