I wa talking to a kid with a 97 Camaro. He said he had seen a removeable sub box at a show. I want to go the same route so I can take my box out for the track. Anyone know of a company that makes a removeable sub box for a 96' Formula?

Audio Enhancers makes some excellent products....and I just picked up a 10" ported sub box for $75.00
Here is a selection of different vendors:

Many of the F-body crowd uses a stealth box or sub-thump, but all in your preference.

My cousin worked at an Audio Shop( Northern Music & Video ), and they built custom boxes. Nice ones.
Lets say you want two 10's, with 2 6X9's on the side, they could make it for you. Any good audio shop should do the same.
Just ask, and if they make them, they will take measurements and they even install it for you. If you dont know them they might charge you a little more but the sound will be worth it.
Not all subs sound good in the same box though.

Custom boxes get might pricey, but audio enhancers and sub-thumps make units specifically for our vehicles....in many varieties.
True, not every sub will sound the same in like enclosures, but that doesn't sound like a major issue in your case. Unless you intend on competing, a standard enclosure (sealed or ported) are pretty much all designed based on cu ft requirements for sub sizes (10 12' 15", etc)
A single 10 or 12 is all you need IMO. Heck, I just swapped out to save weight and have (1) 10" and it is MORE THAN ENOUGH.

Omega, you should post those pics over on DJ's website:
Nice setup man....sharp lookin', but what are those devices on the back seat (RF interface of some sort)
as I cannot see closeup. Did you, or do you compete in any sanctioned audio competition bodies?

Those are police scanners. I had one programmed for pretty much every police force in and around chicago and the other one is all the fire houses.I never competed though, in Chicago, my setup was nothing

I had this 91' 5 Spd 240SX SE ( yeah i know...rice burner, but that was 5 years ago :lookleave )
My older cous was a serious player in the systems war, and traveled to Virginia, Georgia, and other states to compete for "Team Extreme"
He got me into it when i was 18, so I sold my 98 Banshee, and went to town.
I was workin at the time too, makin descent cash.
I had a system pushing 8000+ watts RMS ( max wattage doesnt mean dick )
2 1.5 Farad Digital Caps, 3 JL 10W6's, 2 Rockford 12's HX2's, 2 2000 watt Rockford 4 channel amps, a Pioneer 7500MP3 ( I still have the deck, its now in the Z :D ), 4 160W RMS Audiobahn 4X6's hooked to a 800W Pioneer amp, and a canister battery.
I remember trying to light a lighter down by my feet, and it wouldnt light!
And that system was just another car at a 'sound off' competition. Before I bought the second battery, I had to keep my car runnin, or my amps would shut off! That poor little 2.4:devil:
The same setup wouldnt even fit in my Z, but if it did, it wouldnt be nearly as loud as was in that little car. I still have the 3 10's at the folks house, but my next system is going to be a Rock stereo, with just a little bass. I couldnt even hear the words in that 240. 90% of the time i listened to it, I had the subs off. It was just to impress people. I got sick of it, only to sell most of it.
nasty bass stereo's are cool nevertheless, no matter how old you are..but
its just not my bag of chips

Yes, car audio isn't what it used to be, and I too have gone to weight reduction w/Ghetto install. Now I just focus on SQ and not both, since you have to have a second mortgage to even be competitive (lol)
Unfortunately, I have a custom setup that will only work in another 4th gen F-body; however, I can remove the cosmetic pieces in less than 20 minutes.
Wish I had spent the money on performance mods, but live and learn! I wanted a show car to showcase, but now got the SPEED bug.
