I just did a few mods to my stock 96 ss auto. "cc 503, kooks longtubes and off road Y, pro comp 1.6rr, 3200 vig port and polished stock TB and MAF"
And wouldn't you know it less than 100 miles later my trans lost 3rd and 4th.
My local speed shop told me that they could have it rebuilt for me for $2300 and that they have yet to have one come back.
I would end up having around 28 or 2900 dollars in this rebuild because its 200 to take it out and 200 to reinstall it plus tax.
Are there any better options out there? I plan on having close to 400hp at the rear plus a 150 shot of NOS. I want to retain as much drive ability as possible..."Overdrive" and still be able to hit the track if I want.
I want to do this right the first time so I don't have to mess with it anymore. So if this is a good price then I will pay it but it seems a little expensive for a rebuild :dontknow:
What Do you guys think? Any better options?

First I would suggest checking with a sponsor here for a better price.
Then, I would shoot me a pm. :D

Definatly some better prices for bullet proof 4L60E's out there. 2300 better include some SERIOUS hardwhere. I know of several reputable 4L60 shops that have 450hp ratings for 1600 ish, and 700 hp for under 2000.

I just had my auto tranny rebuilt with racing clutches, shift kit, and an external trans cooler for 1400

that price is a little high and odd a shop would have a separate fee for r and i ,

Don't advertise for them.
LS13RDGEN can do it for cheap, but he's also working on the side out of his garage, not supporting a full shop, salaries, light bills, etc. etc.

True, once the new garage is built though, I will have to raise my prices a wee bit. :D

I gotta admit, those transmissions looks VERY tempting. I have a burnt up 3rd and 4th, and need a bullet proof one. I've got a local guy who does rebuilds for 400(outta the car) plus parts. put them behind a few powerful 383's. with a very nice complete rebuild kit, thats about $900. and then performabuilt come along with a 975 entry level, and 1275 performance version, at 500hp, and all WITH a 2000 stall. wow... and only 100 more to step it up ANOUTHER level to the 700hp model. Tempting tempting tempting. (I hope this don't go against any rules)
BUT, and the big BUT. I had never heard of them until a few weeks ago when I saw the name on ISSF. Mr Performabuilt, I know you say you have ones int he field behind a 680hp 383. (and not to be an asshole), but I could say the same thing. see where I'm going? If you can show proof oh this car, and others. Maybe a forum where the owner is, and I could talk to him. I could see yourself selling me on one, and likely others who are reluctant to use the "new guy" ya know?
and say, is there a core charge? I don't see a mention

I do understand your concerns and I will ask ifI can refer questions to our customer , But that will be up to him , We do respect the privacy of our customers so far that the only records we keep are there name, phone number and email at time of purchase and what they bought along with the date , all other information credit cards address ect are destroyed for privacy and security , In time we will have customers who would like to post there contact information on our website , For right now we are open to any questions both by phone and or email concerning our products from 9am to 1am 7 days a week along with posting answers to questions on this and other forums even for products we did not sell , On the matter of price yes we are inexpensive right now but we are not cheap in any way , unlike most of our competitors we do list in great detail each and every componet in our transmissions , The prices are low for now for only one reason to get some product out there and get a name and get reveiws ect from people who are willing to have there information available so other can contact them,Presently we are building these transmissions at very near a 0 margin which we can do because we are not just some guy coming out and posting transmissions but rather a long established company with many years under our belt, In fact the CEO of this company has been in this bussiness with this corporation of which he is primary owner with many partner shops and facilites all over the country has been in this bussiness for 40 years , Ours and his philosophy is the customer first.
The facility in which all the performance transmissons are built is located in hazelton pa presently and may in time expand to several of our other shops as the bussiness grows,
Myself generally am available to answer anyones questions about our products, bussiness and warranty so feel free to give us call and talk to us.
Thanks

By the way my name is Frank I use the name Performabuilt as many times as possible in every forum as while I am and experienced transmission and diagnostics tech my primary function at present is promotion of PerformaBuilt Transmissions and since these forums are spidered regularly almost daily in fact by all the major search engines this is a benificial way to promote and get our name out there efficeintly and quickly :D:D

all looks well. i understand what your saying. Yes, i looked at the right ups and have to say, I'm impressed. it's not just: level 3 trans, will hold 700 hp. *the end*. it is very detailed into the exact parts, and materials you use. I am leaning very heavily on the race pro(level 3). I drive like 6,000 miles a year, maybe even less now. and baby my car unless I'm racing a friend, or at the track. for me, 1300 is a big chunk. but one I need, for 1st and 2nd only sure is crappy. I did notice that the price jump between "level 2" and "level 3" was all parts. infact, I don't think I could buy a "level 2" and the added "level 3" parts and break even.
I gotta admit frank, that you are making me feel very comfortable with buying one of your products. (and believe me, that doesn't happen often) I've researched this for days, and your's is so bang for the buck it's nuts. Still wondering if there is a core charge, as that may dictate wheather I want one or not. But I have to wait for a few things. (the car's title). Also, how can you have 40 years experiance with trans, but only carry 700r4's?(and the Electronioc version). did I miss something?
is the *FAIRBANKS SUPER SERVO* safe for street use in a daily driver?

we do built other units lol, just at present the 700r4 4l60e 2004r are what we are offering , and yes with the reinforced band pin area of the 2-4 band we use the super servo is fine for everyday use.
