First off I tell ya flat out... S/C the LT1 isnt the brightest of Ideas.

Second, If your putting it on a Stock LT1, dont go over 5-6 PSI.
and no matter what, get it tuned.
Not a chip, or programmer. <--Junk
Putting on a S/C doesnt require a tune, but its a good idea to get one.
Over revving the Stock Lt1 with more than 6 PSI of boost and no tune is grounds for a rebuild.

In my opinion, dont spend the 3K ( or whatever its costing you )for the S/C, but build the motor.
It will be more reliable that way, and you'll have all new motor parts.
Just my opinion... Good Luck...

S/Cing the LT1 is a fine idea...just not on the stock bottom end.

I agree. I went 6,000 miles before my bottom end went out. I've been 40,000 on my rebuilt bottom end. Just remember to go with forged parts when you rebuild and you'll be ok.

i dont eve want to respond to the first he is scared to get real hp all motor is great but only gets you so far without juice and i am a juice hater ( just my opinion ) the kit and the procharger guys say that the stock bottom end will hold if you do not set it up for a race app... so im not going to race it untill i can rebuild it but i got the kit used from a friend ( a very trustworthy one at that ) for 1700 and couldnt pass it up thanks for the input...

:screwy:

Notice:
I said STOCK bottem end :bat
But as far as my opinion goes, Go for it

Race my Uncle's built 454 with your S/C LT1... please ;)
Youll need all the juice in the world for that reverse flow small block

For $1700...get it. Thats well worth it. If you go ahead and put it on just be gentle on it till you can afford to rebuild it.

$1700 is what I got mine for.

Just too much compression....sure it can be made to run on the stock bottom end but its a time bomb....it will not run indefinitely like that. I've seen the results myself.

Get the MSD 6BTM so that you can retard your timing. That will help a little with detnation.

I have the P1-SC on my 94. No problems and i have 123k on it. I just did all the tuning on it and I am only running 5 psi. BTW the tech guys at ATI are a bunch of morons. Your better off talking to a monkey, that is if you are willing to hold for an hour. I ditched the FMU and put on a aeromotive rising rate and 42 lb injectors with a tune I made. It runs great. I do plan on rebuilding the motor soon though and putting twins on.

im just curious why did you up to injectors that were double the size are they too small...

Use bigger injectors so that you can remove the FMU.

i'm running my set up on a stock bottom end with alot of miles, everythings good so far, though i'm certain that it will go out eventually, luckly it only has to last another 6 months, then i've got a 396 long block going in. all forged of course. i haven't upgraded my injectors yet but i have added an inline pump.

i completely agree with chris. but yes make sure to get a tune. and for the price a turbo or s/c is the most reliable constant source of power on the market! i love mine, BUT ill make sure to let you know when it explodes...

p.s. and i thouhght you couldnt retard the timing on a blown motor...

double p.s. i run mine to like 5600 and it hasnt blown yet! (thats without MSD or anything) it has been in MANY a race let me tell you... but its all up to you. i wouldnt boost it too much unless youre mental timing is retarded - like mine.

your supposed to retard the timing on a blown motor, the blower will advance the SH..t out of it. Thats what the purpose of the msd 6btm is, you can retard it and leave it that way from the get go, then advance when needed
