Will some one please help. I was running down the road and i went to get on it and car went dead and will not start. It has 108,000 miles on it and i have not ever had this to happen. Seems to be getting spark from number one plug, sounds like fuel pump is working.

If its getting spark and fuel it should start. How did you verify spark?

Oh and before we get any further how old is the Optispark?

Hello, I put a spark tester on plug wire and turned over motor. The Optispark has never been changed.

Wouldn't hurt to see what fuel pressure you are getting at the rail.

I was wanting to know if the computer could have shut the car down and want let it start? The fans seem to have stopped working about a year ago and i put the switch on it to be able to turn them on high or low. I ran the car down and i put a new battery in it and when i went to start it a heard the fan come on for a second. That is why i thought it mite have something to do with the computer.

HAve you pulled codes?
I think fuel pressure for LT1's is somewhere in the 35-45psi range? I might be off.

43.5psi with the vac tube off the regulator.

Its possible the PCM is fried, the injectors might not be firing...but IMO you wouldn't get spark either since the distributor pulses feed back through the PCM.

Have you checked all your fuses? I think there is an Injector fuse under the hood in the fuse block.

Hello, how can i tell if my PCM is fried? Do you think that the distributor is fried it never was had a new one or even a new cap. I called my self checking the fuses.

I lost my codes beacause i had to put a fresh battery in it and forgot that i was going to lose them. After the fact i did check for codes after turning the motor over a few times and no codes where found.

If the computer's toast you wouldn't get any codes. 1. how did you pull codes and 2. did you get any errors trying to connect to the PCM?

Also, what does "I called myself checking the fuses" mean?

IF the PCM was fried then the "service engine soon" light will not illuminate at all when the key is on.

I used the obd 2 tester but the battery seemed to week i could not see what it was saying so i but a new battery in it and if i had codes i lost them. How i checked the fuse was to take a fuse that i knew worked and switched it around.

If the batt is low enough (<9 volts) the injectors won't fire....just an FYI.

Thank you, I will have to look at the service light when i get home.

My battery was good when this all happened, I ran it down turning it over and then it sat for about a month with the alarm on. The battery was about three years old so i just got a new one.

Just to humor me, pull the #1 plug wire while cranking and see if it will spark to the block. You might have to put an old plug in it and break the electrode off.

I don't trust your plug wire tester thingy.

could try pulling the fuel line off and sticking it in a bottle or something, then turn it over to make sure that you are definately getting fuel too.
