What do you guys think the best year for the LT1 F-Body is?

Well, it all depends.
I'd say 1995 if you're strictly taking about the motors, because OBD1 is easier to mod.
But in terms of the cars themselves it has to be 1997 thanks to the SLP LT4 SS cars. Not that there's many of those cars out there but with a decent tune (GM put the LT1 tune on them, and it robbed HP) they can be LS1 killers.
I remember INTMD8 from Speed Inc bought one, dyno tuned it and it picked up like 20 hp. I think it was 308rwhp after he was done or something?

Like chris said all depends. Only reason id buy a 93 is cuz of teh pace car. Other than that id NEVR get a 93-94. But in terms a 96-97 ss

93's. :finger:
No MAF to obstruct the induction, speed density computer, close ratio six speed was available, and they're just faster.

DING DING DING!!! We got a winner...
My favorite (OBD1 or 2 not a factor) is a 97 SS or a 96/97 WS6!!

The thing I always found odd was the fact the LT1 6 speeds were a better tranny than the LS1 version. More factory hp with a weaker tranny , go figure.

From what I know that's because Borg Warner sold their T-56 division to Tremec who subsequently moved production to Mexico. I went through 3 T-56's in my 99 T/A (brand new at that) in less than 9000 miles.

You are correct , sir. That was the reason, nothing some Viper internals wouldn't cure though. I hope I don't destroy my T56 but it just might happen . I figured I'll kill the 10 bolt first . At least I hope so.

i like the 96-97 ws6 rated at 305 hp.....by the way i am a noob here, whats up guys. as for the six speeds...the internals other than the input shaft will interchange from lt1-ls1. and from what tremec, mcleod ind. and gm told me tremec always built the t-56 just gm had to stam there TM on it. but they may al be wrong huh

I like all the things that everyone seems to love about the 95 but personally I don't think there are many cars that look as good as a 96 or 97 WS6.

I'm still sick (yes, eight years later) that I missed one of the LT4 cars by one day. I called the dealership that had it and someone had bought it the day before  (but they still had it in the showroom). I was all geared up to get rid of the T/A and buy that car. Some things just are not meant to be  . I'm glad in a way that I kept the T/A since it was the first car I ever bought (college graduation present to myself).

The best LT1 Camaro would be the last year production of the 3rd generation which is in 1997. I have 97' 30 year anniversity LT1 SS. Yeah it is rated 305 hp @ the crank. My car is one of the 3,000 SS produced that year. It has 3 STRIKES to it. (1) Its RED!
(2) Its LOUD! (3) Its FAST!

It's got to be 97, here's why:
New interior to get rid of the old, useless vents
center console that still sucks, but won't break as easy and has places to keep change
extra 10hp on every V8 becasue of dual cats
newer style taillights
digital odometer
thinner needle on the gauges--better looking
and of course....
I own one!!
All of these apply to the Camaro...who would want one of those firethings anyway? :D

I concurr.. 93's are plain faster.. LOL:werd:
I'd say 96 also but I'm biased in that was my WS6 :)
But I ran a 95 PCM after all the mods as OBDII software wasn't out back then...

Even though I own a 96 I'm gonna have to say 95 because of vented opti and OBD1, the later of which I ended up converting my 96 to. I say 95 unless the intent is an unmodified car in which case I would go with a 97:thumbsup:
