engine wireharness

Its a simple question I'm going to drop an lt1 in and I don't know how to remove the engine wire harness and computer any tips or advice?

my best advice would probably be take your time and label the wires.

The insulator boots are color coded, ok well to a point. Orange = ignition, blue = air, purple = fuel, etc. Like R3D says, labels and take pictures of where they go. If you get stuck you can go back to the pics.

I have the wires mark but I was told to remove the w/harness for the v8's harness

Yea you have to swap harnesses, the V6 pcm and harness won't work.

Tried to find a pic for you but couldn't find one. It's mounted up on the corner of the firewall on the passenger side. Trace the harness back and everything terminates there.

I found it easier to work with a "seasoned" wiring harness. Just put the PCM in place and let the harness lay comfortably where it wants to go and just connect everything in site. The harness will do all the hard work for you.

you have to swap out the body harness under the dash along with the instrument cluster, rad, rad fans, and possibly other crap depending on year to year. trans and driveshaft are different. rear should be swapped as well for posi.

93-95 harness's should be the same. As long as the harness and computer used had the same options as the car it's going into. Like cruise,traction control and such. Then you got 96-97.

And the driveshaft should be the same between a v6 and v8. I don't see why it wouldn't be. The trans is mounted in the same spot along with the tourqe arm.

Radiator and fans should also be the same between a v6 and v8. Clusters don't need swapped either. Unless you want the higher speedo. Though the speedo might be off. Not sure on that one.

As for the rear. If i'm not mistaken. Didn't a certain package come with rear disk brakes and limited slip in the v6? We don't have posi either it's limited slip. v6's most came with a open diff.

early f-body v6 driveshafts are 2 piece. radiator is smaller and is a single fan setup. you will most certainly have cluster issues but seems like anything i write has been 2nd guessed. there were v6's with disc as an option, think its y87. dual exhaust and whatnot.

springs also need to be changed along with fuel pump. fuel lines will have issues reaching the lt1 rail. theres alot of bs that goes along with it. www.camarov6.com would be a good source for more info.

It is the Y87 package. It came with four wheel disc brakes, dual exhaust, & the rear end & the steering ratio were the same as the Z28/TA. The performance handeling package is what they called it. The transmission on the v6 is flat at the top of the bell housing instead of pointed like the v8 & drive shaft is also a 2 piece on the v6 & single piece on the v8 cars. Not sure about 98 & beyond though. My v6 also has dual rad fan as well. Although I believe one is for the A/C. The v6 & v8 engine harness will be different, but I'm not sure about the body harness. Fuel lines are different, not sure about pump. I'm not sure about the computer which by the way in tucked next to the passanger side hood hinge. Didn't traction control come out in '98 & later cars?

traction control was available pre 98. my 95 3.4L is a single cooling fan setup.
