We're gonna make some serious money off of that car this season. His car on boost will keep up with my car on spray.

when you said FI,, did that mean FUEL INJECTION , or FORCED INDUCTION, or both. thx RON

snakeoilperformance
04-25-2006, 11:54 PM
im sure he meant forced induction since this IS mainly a fuel injected site, dedicated to lt1 and ls1.. but yea, on other websites people never make it clear..

my turbo setup will be on by the summer. got the intercooler coor today, so now i need to get welding. i got the flanges for the headers.

now if i could only get my boss to make the headers!! ill keep ya posted. but upon finishing, we will be offering single turbo kits for b-body cars as a shelf item..

None yet, I've been having to wait on everyfreakinthing I've ordered. Finally got the blower snout after 2 months, the blower is now mounted on the intake. The intake is basically done except the fuel rail brackets.

Now I'm working on the intake ducting (CAI) on top of the blower. There's another thing I waited on and finally gave up, the metal for it. Ordered it over a week ago and haven't heard a peep from the place so I went to the local steelworks place and luckily found some scrap they had that would work.

Actually right now I'm building a folding brake so I can bend the fuel rail brackets and CAI. I bought a folding brake off ebay this week and that was a joke. It's made out of aluminum, didn't know that or I wouldn't have bought it. I donated $65 to that guy because it broke on the second bend I attempted. So, now I'm copying that brake and making my own out of 3/8" metal, it won't break. :D Hope to have that made tomorrow and maybe monday I'll be done bending everything and possibly some time next week I'll get the CAI TIGged up. When I get that done I'll take some pics. There's a few small things to do after that so maybe not too far off in the distance I'll get to hear this thing fire up and run, I should have been done with it 2 months ago!!

I'll live but it sure hurts like a bitch. It cut half the fingernail off and about half of the tip of the finger. I think I saw some bone right after it happened, it went deep. It's rather gross looking.

Good news is, well I guess it's good news, I'll be off work for a couple weeks probably so that'll gimme alot of time to work on the setup after it quits throbbing. lol

How are ya'll enjoying those rear-mounts?

Anyone have one that has had a front-mount (or even a procharger)? Any experienced comparo beyond the usual stuff like 'underhood temps' etc?

Thanks!

Thanks, CamTom12 and y2k-onyx-ss.
We worked hard to get the turbo as high as possible. It included rebending the tailpipe so it was not so low. I guess the turbo hangs about 1" below the bottom of the diff.
I spoke (via another forum) with an installer who put one on a lowered car. He said he had to put the car back to stock ride height because it was too low.
I like mine pretty well. I have some minor gripes, as all FI owners do. I ran it with a GTech and it showed just under 13 seconds at 4 psi. I have the variable boost controller and it can run at 7 psi too, but it is too much power for the street.
I really like having a less crowded and cooler engine bay. Power should be about the same. After all, 7 pounds of boost is 7 pounds of boost.
One misconception is turbo lag. It is non-existent.

BTW y2k-onyx-ss, very nice ride indeed. But your turbo does look a little low.

thanks for the compliment,

I did get the front pipe and rear pipe up in the air more so i have decent clearance i havent hit the pipe anymore and the rear oil line is .25" - .5" higher than my stock exhaust work under the car, i did have to get the rear exhaust that connects to the turbo lifted at a mufler shop just enough so it wouldnt hit anything but put that turbo in the air.

with no weight in the back on my stock SS springs i have 4.25" ground clearance from the oil line on the turbo in the back.
so thats decent.
even the rough roads in my city still havent hit it
