This is my first engine removal and I want to seperate the trans from the motor is the motor and trans bell house togater do I remove the bell house bolts or leave them there's two bolts on each side behind the oilpan should I remove those to pull apart the motor from the trans?

The motor and bell housing are bolted t/g, then the trans is bolted to the bell housing. You will have several large (18mm) bolts that connect the bell housing to the engine, then you'll also have 4 13mm bolts connecting the bell housing to the oil pan (via a bracket).

Then the transmission will have 4 bolts holding it to the bell housing (15mm IIRC). Honestly it might just be easier to pull the K member down since I know you're pulling the engine, then the engine and trans will drop as one unit.

I'm pulling from the top without k/memeber removal how would I remove the 18mm bell housing bolts w/o the drop in k/member or just pull the bell housing to with the motor

Most people find it easier to pull engine & transmission together, then pull trans off once its out of the car.

if this is a V6 (assuming it is because of the forum you're posting it in) i am almost certain the engine and trans will come out the top without any trouble.

you just have to tilt it right.

Anyone know of the easiest way to remove the trans from its crossmembers I'm using a repair guide and I'm finding that not helpful at all

Trans from crossmember is only 1 bolt...15mm.

Easiest way to unbolt the trans on the V6's is to loosen the 6 k-member bolts to where they're barely in, then lower the k and drop the trans crossmember to angle it. After that just get some extensions and get the 18mm socket up in there.

Just to warn you some of them had loctite on them from the factory and I broke a socket trying to get it off. In the end I had to pull the engine by dropping the k and wish I would have done it that way in the first place.

YEP the best way is to drop the k-member because i took my 3.4 out the top with the trans attached and had remove the fuel injection to get it out smoothly so drop the K OK
