Who doesn't like the Impy thought? I mean the LT1 powered ones.

Such a shame GM Killed it before the LS1 went into them. They even had pre-production mules running around.....

I like the B cars. I called my old caprice das Boat ;)

I got it running high 13's without too much effort. I have since moved on to f cars but I will always like the big cars.

I feel a little inadequate posting my old car after Tooblue, but why not.

I have been wanting a Impala SS since they came out, but eveytime we go to buy another car the wife wants something else. Ya have to keep the women happy or else aint nobody happy.

How much are decent 96's going for now-a-days?

sleeperSS
08-15-2005, 06:05 PM
the price of these things really does vary. you can get into a decent one for 10k with a bit of looking. i've come to the conclusion that the people on e-bay selling theirs are doing mass quantities of drugs for the most part. i'd look around for a while on autotrader (that where i got mine) and get a good feel for what people are selling for then go from there.

i paid a bit too much for mine because i didnt look around long and get a feel for their going rate.

i would think so, how about some info on the '57?
My first car in December 1971. 283 Super Turbofire, PG tranny, AM radio. That's about it. My buddy's aunt had run it into the back of a pickup. We found another parts car, put the front clip on it; rering, rebearing, valve job, had it running 6 weeks later.

Fast forward to 1998. Installed 396 and TH400 from a '66 Impala. Typical mild rebuild, forged pistons, 270 adv dur hydraulic cam w/.510" lift. Ported the 260cc intake port, 96cc closed chamber oval port heads, 2.06/1.72" valves. Port matched Weiand Action + with 750 Proform-bodied Holley double pumper. Griffin 6-cyl position aluminum radiator. ACC Boss Hog 2800-3200 stall converter (actually stalls at 3500), rebuilt with TCI shift kit, B&M Megashifter. '71 Nova 8.2" 10-bolt rear with 3.73 gears and Powertrax Lock Rite. When racing, use 9.5-26x14 Hoosier Quicktime Pro DOTs on the rear. Best of 13.73 @ 97.75 MPH at 5800' Bandimere, translates to about 12.7 @ 105 at sea level.

Currently has power leather buckets & rear bench from a '96 Bonneville. Needs new headliner & carpet. Exterior is Matador Red with Ivory white roof.

Did I mention it's a 4 door sedan? I didn't know any better in 1971.

I used to hate the 2000+ impalas. However, after actually driving an 04 imp for a while I have changed my opinion of them. And from what I have seen from the 06s, they are an even better car. I only wish the interior of my 96 or my 04 were half as nice as the 06 SS. I also wish that either car could've had a factory engine that compares to the LS4.

I just thought I'd put in my $.02.

1. My favorite body style of Impala is the 2000-05. I just with they were rear-wheel drive.

2. My favorite Caprice is the '94ish Wagon. Yeah, that's right, I'm a wagon fan. They look especially bad-ass lowered sittin' on 18-20" dubs.

3. Other monstrosities I'd like to see :eureka: is a 2000 Impala converted to a Wagon, and a GTO with complete body make-over to look like an Impala 2-door and have the LS2!

4. No need to tell me, I already know I'm crazy. Hence the V8 minivan. :werd:

Hello fellow "boaters". My wife has a 94 Imp SS w/ hotcam kit, p&p'd heads, 30# inj, p&p MAF, SLP CAI, LT flowtech AB's, 52mm TB etc, etc.
Exterior consists of original factory paint except for the 4" cowl induction FG hood and purple ghost flames on the front, Eagle 203 17x8 wheels, Eibach 2" drop springs etc, etc.

This is her every sunny day driver w/ 140k+ miles on it.
Her dyno pulls from 9 Sep 05 were 300/300 rwhp/tq.

I, on the other hand have an LS1 02 Z (sleeper).

Hopefully I can snatch up an LS1 somewhere to retro into the Imp...or stroke it.

First off, why the caps lock?

Second, why the bigger injectors? The stock 24#s are fine for a stock motor up to a mild cammed motor.

I went with JetHot coated Afterburners on my SS.

did somebody say boats?

First car: 1973 AMC Ambassador. 360 2bbl. It liked to produce smoke on days it ran good.
2nd car: 1983 Cadillac Deville. 4.1 DFI. It was by no means greased lightning.
3rd car: 1989 Cadillac Brougham. Olds 307 4bbl. It was a riot in the snow on ice! All that low rpm torque made for great sliding. But it couldn't get outta it's own way.
4th car: 1990 F-150 long bed. 5.0 EFI It was a tire spinner even when you didn't want it to be. Can we say air born?
5th car: 1992 Cadillac Deville. It got up, went, and left a black streek in the process! I put many camaro's to shame the month I drove it. It had been my dad, then moms car since early 93. It was the nicest 13 year old car I had EVER seen in 04. Absolutly flawless.
6th car: 1995 Cadillac Deville. Northstar, and snow. Loved it the month I drove it while we sold it for grandpa.
7th car, and my dream machine since 1996... 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood. LT1, RWD, RED, need I say more? Thrid RWD caddy, Third Red caddy, and the Third Caddy with power, and it was the POWERHOUSE. It's a real shame I only got to drive it less than a year before totalling it this month... :chairshot
8th car: 1996 Chevy 9C1. The begining of a new love... But it's still not a "My Baby".

:blah:

Thing for boats? :screwy:

BOI THET WIZ HERD TOO REED. :twak:
Anyways. Yea, Clear Image Automotive's TRI-Y's are really nice for mildy moded cars. But at $1,000, kinda hard to swallow. I went with a set of CIA Budget Headers, for my recently killed LT1 Cadillac. If your looking for heated:lol: header debate, do some searches on www.ImpalaSSforum.com (http://www.ImpalaSSforum.com) . But be careful, they will tag team you for your cap lock stunt with no "greammer".

Also, the bigger injectors, air foil, and MAS, are all about useless. Starting with the "most" useless.

Keep it real!
