I just had a Spec stage 3 and an Aluminum flywheel. It seems like there is alot of chatter when I take off. Is this normal because it hasent been broken in? It was just put in today. Now the tough one. I trieed it in reverse and I thought the car was gonna brake. Before I could got about 15mph and occasionally I would show off and do a reverse burnout. The car would wheel hop and go crazy. Now if I try to back up real easy the car does the same stuff. It shakes and wheel hops and the tranny feels like it is gonna break. Could it be because the clutch is to extreme for the car? Or is it probably an alignment problem? I need some ideas were to start looking. All suggestions are appreciated.:streetrac

If you use them right they don't chatter, but you can't slip them like a normal clutch.

You almost have to 'launch hard' from every take-off. The less time the clutch is slipping the better. I actually just let my clutch pull my motor down a little bit (or I did before I lost more low-end from my cam, lol) and that seemed to help.

Try varying your technique, find the sweet-spot

And as far as clutch choice, the ones that I've personally seen that drive well as far as performance clutches go are RAM, Spec... well, that's about it as far as LS1's go

I've got a 3 and I love it. It's got some 30-40K on it and I still launch with slicks.

That link will help explain it a little bit

 :screwy: :lookleave

Wheel hop producing reverse burnouts = very bad idea, unless you want to grenade your rear end.

If you are going to be trying to do a reverse burnout on a new clutch, no amount of help we can give you is going to prevent you from needing a new clutch in a few hundred miles.

I want to known why that is happening in reverse. Im not trying to do it. I cant go into reverse at more than 1500 rpm without my car shaking and wheel hoping. I was only doing like 2mph. I just dont know why its happens.:streetrac

Wheel hop is caused usually by worn shocks. BTW, I detonated my T-5 doing a reverse burnout... completely lost reverse gear, and by what many have said, I was lucky to still have my rear end....It sucked not being able to back up. First thing I did after a new Transmission, was installing new shocks.... even Monroe shocks eliminated it....for a while... -Tim

yeah, wheel-hop is also caused by a bad pinion angle, or your LCA's not holding your rear down.

If you're engaging your reverse normally you shouldn't have any issues unless something's broken.

I get wheel-hop because with all my suspension mods I threw off my LCA angle. A set of Relo. brackets will eliminate mine.

Reverse burnouts are generally a bad idea...

Hey man are you saying you try to engage your clutch at 1500rpm in reverse? Or you can't go any faster than 1500rpm in reverse? 1500rpm is kinda high RPM's to engage your clutch into reverse at if thats what your talkinga about. If you have any questions give us a call..... Where here to help...And yes the stage 3's will chatter, you'll get used to figuring out the right RPM/pedal/gas combo so its not as rough after a bit of driving with it.

The LS7 clutch with a LS2 flywheel is the lastest craze. It appears to be holding about 450 hp to the rear wheels. Of course the best clutch for high dollars is the clutch from down under, it runs about 1000 with new hydrolics included, drives like a stock clutch and is said to be handling 6-700 rear horsepower, is also holding up well in the autocross world as well. Latest rumor is Spec is coming out with a stage 5 clutch that will be a dual disk and is currently being tested.
