CLAY BAR -

since many people are unsure of how to use it or wat it is here is a quick right up on it..

first u need to test if ur car needs to be clayed. u can do this by feeling the surface of ur car with saran wrap on ur fingers if it slides across smooth and feels like glass u probably dont need to clay bar but if its rough and dirty then u can clay it . clay is good cause it will get rid of tough things in ur paint that reguallry hand washing wont do. like bugs tar ect...

1.) make sure ur car is washed and cleaned very well and avoid sunlight
2.) avoid sunlight and make sure the part ur cleaning isnt to hot from the sun
3.) make sure u use plenty of clay lubricant while ur doin the application cause u dont want the clay to dry. (lubricant- any kind of quick detailer or u can buy the acualy lubricant specifically for that)
4.) after spraying the area use medium pressure and rub the clay back and fourth
5.) the surface should feel a lot smoother than the ones you have yet to reach
6.) then dry the surface with a microfiber cloth and buff to a nice shine. rember its the same concept as waxing work in small areas to make sure u get it all

I would just add that if you EVER drop the clay on the ground you MUST throw it away, everything sticks to it, even if you think you have it picked off. don't chance it. Instead, tear the claybar into 1/4-1/3 peices. That way if you do drop it, you won't waste the whole bar and can just toss that peice and grab another one. Also keep kneeding it to a clean section while your using the bar. Claybars also work really well on windows too, so don't forget them while your doing the paint.

just a bit of info... as far as clay lube goes... you dont have to use expensive clay lubes or quick detailers.. at work i just take a spray bottle with a lil bit of soap and some water.. hell even glass cleaner works

Not just light overspray, but it will remove touchup paint as well. I had a bottle leak all over my passanger side rear quarter. I tried taking it off myself with whatever I could find in my garage. Nothing. Told a buddy of mine about it, he grabs some clay, took it right off.

This was after about 3 weeks of sitting ontop of the paint. :eek:

Here's one thing that was missed: Once you're done claybaring the car, you NEED to put a new coat of wax on it. The claybar strips EVERYTHING off of your paint.

Would be a great time to start fresh with Zaino!

No the claybar won't remove painted on stuff...at least not if its done right. Spraypaint overspray, yes, it will get that off.

Awesome .. Im Detailing my car before it heads to Chicago cuz i wont have the chance to detail it upon arrival for Inavasion - i know it doesnt make sense but its the last opprotunity before i pick her up

Probably the most notable spot on an F-body (personally speaking) is the rear bumber.......regular dust/debris collector!

Outstanding, and looks like the next Zaino order will include a clay bar.

Not sure about other 4th gen F-body owners, but I cannot keep the rear area clean to save my life.

I have used the Meguiars 3step treatment, I think that the step 1 paint cleaner works like clay, has anyone used it?

Cant wait till I get moved into the new house with a nice big garage. A thorough detail of the new formula including a clay bar are in order.
