OK, almost due for my oil change, and thought I may try the NEW Mobil One 5w-30 Syntec (fully syn) 15,000 mile protection oil. I have used nothing but the original up until now, and just wondering what your opinions are on this product. Gonna use the extended wear Mobil One extended wear oil fiter also, since I have concerns on NOT changing the filter over this long interval period. FYI, 58+k currently on the car

Oh yeah, forgot to add "what about viscocity breakdown?"
Feedback please

I don't know of anyone who has tried it. I either use regular Mobil 1 or German Castrol.

Well, I already purchased (6) qts, but will NOT stretch it to 1-year or 15K.

Thanks for the feedback! NO racing is expected for 2006, and most of my driving is basically highway mileage. I already stressed my baby last year, so time for R&R and mods this fall.

I have always trusted Mobil 1. I use the fully synthetic 5w-30 also. My buddy just put the 15,000 mile Moble 1 in his Cavalier that has 110,000 miles on it. I guess he will test it for us. Its a 2.2 w/ 5 speed manual. The car is one of the best driving Cavaliers I have ever driven.

the extra things in it should be good for the engine, but there is no way im goin 15k. if i were to run it, id probably go to maybe 7k at absolute most depending on what conditions i drive in.

Agreed.....I was more concerned w/oil filtration and viscocity, but we'll give it a try, and besides I have plans for a cam install this fall, so I may go 10K /
7 mos and then have to change-out anyhow.

I'd have no problem doing it so long as I got to change out the filter. Since the last thread about oil I went back and started searching for the oil analysis results of the guys that did eoc intervals and the synthetic stuff apparently tested very well out past 30,000 miles. IIRC the guy running the amsoil was up to almost 60,000 miles with 3-5K mile filter changes and top offs.

A customer of mine is a large national trucking firm. They use synthetic engine oil from the factory and they NEVER change the oil; top-offs and filter changes in an OTR truck. At 200,000 they sell the trucks and get top dollar. This practice for 7 years now.
