Looks like the lineup is 6.2L 450hp LS3 for the base car and 600 hp 6.2L supercharged LS9 for the Z06.
I read something the other day about 08 emissions regs causing the LS7 not to be in compliance anymore.

So the 400 and 500 HP versions of a Camaro may not be too far fetched.

Actually I'm starting to think, if the LS7 is going to be phased out, that we'll get a 400HP LS2 Camaro and then whatever the top model is will be an LS3 car.

But I want a big block. :wishwehadapoutsmiley:

The LS7 isn't a 'big block'. All the Gen III/IV motors are the same physical/external size regardless of the displacement.

It's hard to argue with 427ci though.

I agree, there's something really nasty sounding about 7.0 Liters.

But more than enough low end to blow your doors off.

why can't they use these engines? the 750HP XV-12 Engine that powered the Cien concept, and the V-16 power-plant that produces 1000 HP and 1000 lb-ft. toque that pwoered the Sixteen. I know their concept engines probably, but still, they got ne real potential of being used?

Emissions regulations....gas mileage restrictions, expense to produce.

the 6.2 is the equivalent of a 383 right?

It's close. Tecnically a 6.2 is a 376ci.
To figure ci from liters you divide them. 346/5.7 = 60.71 x 6.2 = 376.41

you could do that.. or you could use google...
just go to google.com and type in what you want to convert:
"convert 6.2 l to cubic inches"
and it comes up with:
6.2 l = 378.347213 cubic inches

I want my 396 back......
So it is true, and GM is intending on bringing these into production........COOL! But didn't GM have emissions issues w/LS7 originally, and that is why it took so long to go into full ZO6 production?

350 is closer to a 5.7 as its 5700cc, so that would be 350/5.7= 61.40*6.2= 380.70
so the 6.2 would be a 380

i thought i covered this.. it's not 380.7, it's 378.3
1 l = 61.0237441 cubic inches
1 (cubic inch) = 0.016387064 liters
google never lies

There will be no more big block V8's due to fuel efficiency concerns. Isn't 500-750 hp enough hp from a small block?

Almost all cars traction limited around 600hp, so what's the big deal about having more?
LiquidFire350

Its easier to fix the traction issue than the power issue.
