94 LT1 or newer?

My car is a 94' and from what I gather is different from 95' & up LT1's. I'm planning on buying another engine to build up and was wondering if I should stick with the same year motor for the build up or get a newer one? What are the differences? I know the optisparks are different, is there anything else that makes the newer blocks & heads better?

You may have been confused with '93. '94-97 were pretty similar, only difference was like the vented opti and maybe a crank position sensor.(and obd-II for 96-97) '93 had a bunch of different stuff: no maf, fuel rails different, batch fire injection, few others as well.

I just bought this car and have been out of the S/B chevy scene for a while now. I was just going by the parts books for aftermarket stuff. I guess it's just the AIR and optispark that's different from 94' and the newer LT1's. Thanks for setting me straight on that.

Air should be the same for 94/95, but I'm not sure. 93/94 had non vented opti's, whereas 95-97 had the vented one.

This site is offering some great info allready! Thanks. Would you know if C5 corvette wheels fit these cars?

Ya, may need spacers in the back, but plenty of people use C5/C6 Z06 wheels on their F-Bodies.

What's Up Bro!!! And Welcome from Northern Utah!:D

You bet the Vette C5 wheels will fit. I had a set of 18X9.5's on my previous 94 Z28, and the only mod I had to make is to bang in the inner rear wheel whell with a mallet so the inside of the tire does not rub. Other than that they looked BAD ASS. It totally set my car off!!!

I wish I still had them to put on my current 94 Z28. But I will most likely be getting a set down the road sometime. $$$ is all I am lacking now.

P.S. This site ls1lt1.com is the best you'll find on the web! PERIOD!!
Lots of great folks with TONS of great tech and other good info too!

You have any questions at all PLEASE ask. NO QUESTION IS A DUMB ONE!

Thanks, Scott:D

I wanted to try some of the C5 Z06s, 18x10.5 rear and 17x9 front, any idea if a 10.5" width will fit okay without massive spacers? I don't want the tires sticking way out, but want a good amount of rubber getting to the ground.

Hey man, thanks for the warm welcome and the wheel fitment info. I'm really psyched to start modifying my car. I've owned a few 3rd gen camaro's and had a lot of fun with them. I picked this car up cheap a few weeks ago because of a overheating problem (that I quickly diagnosed & fixed). I am very familiar with TPI small blocks but this is my first time wrenching on a LT1 so I'm sure I'll have more than a few questions. I always say;"the only stupid question is the one you never ask":LS1LT1flag:
Thanks, Mike
