I just aquired a used 3rd gen B&M console Megashifter. It came minus cable et al, microswitches, and various nuts/bolts. I've ordered the microswitches (for neutral safety & back-up lights), should be able to scrounge up the fasteners.
I've heard of guys using the stock shifter cable with a Megashifter. The cable I have is only a couple of years old, using the B&M cable would require getting their trans mount bracket and shift lever arm (which I also didn't get), so I think I'd rather go this route and fab up a bracket for the stock cable to the shifter.
Also ordered a T-handle w/momentary switch and line lock solenoid. The car will remain my daily driver, but will become the son's weekend warrior.
Got a good weekend's worth of work ahead of us.

Is your son going to race regularily in a points series?
I don't have the megashifter in my car but I've driven a friends race car with one several times. It took me a little while to get the hang of D->P, R->P, etc. No learning curve actually going down the track though.

I've had a Megashifter in the '57 for 4 seasons, so I'm used to it. In fact, going from one car to the other is easier, it seems, in the direction of the '57.
He'll probably race in the High School class Friday evenings. We'll see.
Got a Megashifter in my IROC & love it

And I haven't touched the thing in a month.
I probably should have just gotten a new unit, as I'll have to supply a lot that would have come with it new but didn't with this used one. Oh, well, live & learn. At least it appears to be in good condition.
We went to the track's racer open house last night and registered for the season series that we'll be running. Friday nights, I'll run Street ET and my son will run High School. We'll also both run Club Clash the 6 Friday nights during the summer they run that.
Have a lot of work to do to get ready for the season. Hope to get started on that tomorrow.

My son took the initiative over the weekend to get it started. Some modification was in order since it was a used unit and didn't come with all of the required parts (in retrospect, I would go new if I had it to do over again).
It's in and operating, but we need to do some tweaks. Still haven't gotten the indicator plate & boot on, the on-line instructions talk about using the "included template", which of course I don't have and the instructions don't include. Still trying to figure out how the indicator plate is supposed to be mounted. The back holes match the factory console screw locations, but the front holes line up with empty space.
