many people have asked wats the best mod for a auto car .. simply put from eveperince is a large TC. its something you will really feel once put in your car. the bigger the stall the more you will realize in your car. for expample if you put a 3200 tc in your car when ever time u floor it it will downshift to that speed and take off from there. thus putting u more into your powerband quicker. also if you plan on a large TC a tranny cooler and a shift kit is a must. since your transmision will be running faster you will need the cooler to help maintain the heat.. heat is the worst things for transmisions. also the shift kit will firm up your shifts and making the car feel stronger. plan on getting a TC make sure you know your gearing in the rear before you go in blindly reasearch wats the best for your aplication because TC arent universal. i hope this helps or answers some questions

Also a very good basic write-up there on how torque converters work.

That's a great link. I can't stress enough how important the cooler is for trans life. The more stall you have the more heat you're going to create. Anything over 200* kills a trans very quickly.

That it does. I was suprised I was able to keep my 4L60E alive as long as I did in my old Z28.

Ther is no single change that helps as much as the torque converter. I have seen anywhere from 3 to 8 tenths in ET drop. Nitrous & super/turbo charging are the exceptions.
