Hey-
New to the forum, this'll be my first post:

I got the Richmond gears put in my rear-end, it took the guy 3 weeks to do it for some reason, I guess he couldnt figure it out. Anyway, I get it back and theres a strange noise coming from the back, more of a rubbing from the rear passenger tire area.

I've been advised it COULD be a wheel bearing-- it only really happens when my steering wheel is turned to the right, and it gets louder as I slow down. It's not a whine, it kinda sounds like when you fall asleep on the freeway and drift off the road onto that loud stuff (I don't know what its called).

Anyway, lookin for some guidance as to what to do. I considered buying some new Moser axles and gettin some new bearings and goin to town on that, if that is the problem. Any input is appreciated :) Thanks

Jens

Is it a rubbing noise or more of a whine?

Richmond gears are noisy by nature but you say it's a rubbing sound on the passenger side and it only does it when yer turning to the right.............might wanna take the passenger wheel off and see if you see the brake rotor rubbing the caliper or see if anything else is rubbing. Reason why I say to do that is he might have not put the c clip back on that axle and when you turn right it's trying to push that axle out of the rear and the only thing holding it in is the brake caliper. Never know since it took him 3 weeks to do a 3 or 4 hour job. Just a suggestion, I could be way off and it's only an axle bearing too.

thanks, ill check that out...

i should be able to tell if its the C clip by my ability to pull on the axle, right?

I guess he'd never seen a set of gears like this before? i have no idea how it took 3 weeks, but i guess thats the nature of the beast.
