I was just wondering if a torque convertor would help my 1/4 mile time any. My mods are in my sig. I have 3.23 gears and stock 10 bolt rear end. I normally launch the car at about 1000-1200 rpms. What kinda difference in the 1/4 mile would I be looking at if I swapped a different torque convertor in?? And which one should I get?

Short answer? Yes. Compare to sliding the clutch out at a higher rpm in a manual, puts the car more in the powerband on launch and helps with shift extension. :)

I'd like to see 3:42's in your car for starter's .. that'd help 1/4 mile dramaticly .. very little down time

Really? Someone on WS6ZXR forum said that even going like 3.73s wouldn't help more than like 1/10th in the 1/4 mile if that even.

from from expericence, 2.73s got me an ET of 13.6
only changes sence then were TM delete, transcooler, TB bypass, !spare tire/jack, and 3.42s- 13.2

4 tenths from one step up on gears is about right .. you could feel a real diffrence right ?

only difference i really "felt" was off the line, if i hit it while cruising, it didnt feel any different
but i could tell the exhaust was louder when cruising around

I had 323s in my blown TA and switched to 373s. It was a little quicker off the line but I liked the 323 gear better. I personally think you would like a converter better. Just an opinion.

So would different gears or a different stall convertor help me the most in reducing my 1/4 mile time.

Just to give you an example....I knocked off a full second from putting in a 3200 stall, ET streets, and LT's. (on 2.73's) The LT's probably knocked off around .2-.3 so you do the rest of the math.
Get the stall and some tires, you won't be dissapointed.

Now you just have to learn to "shift them gears"!!

Okay, so what torque converter would be good to get? Like what stall speed...I think I read that it should be like around 2400 with the stock tranny. BTW, the stock tranny is a 4L60E correct? Or is it a 4L60? What's the diff?

i believe LT1s like lower stalls, somewhere around 24-2800
and you have the same trans, 4l60e

Thanks for the info...that matches the info I received on the stall speed as well somewhere around 24-2800. Now I just have to find a good one.

I'd say get a Vig, but I have only put them in other's cars. I've never driven one on a long-term basis

I ran a 3600 in my stock 4l60e without any problems. If I were you, I'd run a Vig3600. It actually stalls around 3800. You'll love it.
