I just had to share. I saw the 08 Challenger and it is BAD ASS!

They finaly captured the true lines and engine of a real muscle car. I inside is equally as great. Pistol grip 6spd, 6.1L 425hp ram air. That alone means that engine has SOOO much more potential. I invision exhaust, cam & tunning would put it close to 500 especially at 6.1L. It has been a long time since I said I must have it, except for the Z06.

Sorry to say the new Camaro doesn't do it for me.

Lets just say Monday at NAIAS nobody cared about the Challenger. One Chrysler exec was overheard saying "...Ouch..." in response to the Camaro.

They picked the wrong time to bring that thing back IMO.

What I don't like about the Charger is it is too literal a retro design.

It looks to me just like an old Charger. I think it will age quickly. If I want an old charger I'll buy an old charger.

The Camaro looks like a modern/futuristic car, it doesn't look exactly like a '69 or any specific year even. Tom Peters even said he wanted a modern car with strong heritage cues, and I think he pulled it off. Supposedly even some C6 and F-22 Raptor cues in the car.

I like it. I think it looks great, b/c its the SAME ****ING CAR as they brought out in the 60s that looked great then and still does. But how do they modify that to keep it around. I am not thrilled about the new "Hemi"s either. Techincally its not a true Hemi by the sense of the word as it was when the TRUE motors came out. Plus that car will be a pig in weight just as all Dodge/Chryslers are, so don't count on it hanging w/ a Camaro, IMO.

What are you talking about?

A concept car rarely wears realistic wheel/tire sizes.......you have to realize that. I don't look at the Challenger and expect it to look exactly like the Concept either, that's just part of the deal.

I'd bet almost everythign I own on the fact that the real Camaro won't have 22" rims on it.

Look at em .. those things are maybe 19 f 20 rear ...
But look at the camaro concept it almost needs a huge wheel in there to make it look right

Neither will get the same size wheels they have in their concept mode. Be lucky to have 17s and 18s. I'd love to have 18s on the Camaro as an option.

I think they tried too hard on the Camaro. I don't like the lines and the front looks like a smile...:werd: besides they have no idea when it is coming out. The company is dealing with too many issues right now, notice they are cutting prices... that said it could be longer to tool up for the camaro. They have already said the challenger is off the same platform as the 300. Their company is in a much better position to get this car into production. I love cars period and would pick Dodge over Ford but I think those two companies have developed some nice cars in the past two years which shows how slow GM is reacting.

You choose....

Same platform as 300C? Yep, that means 4000 lbs. So much for that 425hp Hemi making it fast, LOL.

If you think that Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep is in a better position than GM think again my friend. You WILL see this car in 09 if not before then. I am thinking its an 09 model available in late 08. At least thats what I gathered at the show. They weren't gonna say the car would be available b/c they were waiting on reactions to see what they needed to do.

People get this perception that GM is going under. They need to step back and look at the big picture. All American auto makers have been hounded and severly hurt by contracts w/ the UAW. When a line worker is making more than the engineer designing the car, thats a problem. They are in a major reorganization right now and the lineup they have out right now is full of top sellers. You do realize that GM has the #1 selling brand car/truck in Chevy for 2005 right? Can't be said for the Dodge or Chrysler brand. Cutting the fat, aka worthless jobs, overpayed employees is construed in the media as a bad thing. Not at all. They are taking the company back w/in the reigns it needs to make money again.

As for the tried to hard comment... to me Dodge didn't try at all. Just look at the Challenger. There are no design changes. I like it, trust me, but they didn't make an attempt, they are just running off the Dukes of Hazard popularity w/ that model. At least GM put some retro cues w/ a modern design together to come up with their model.

300 chasis... ouch. Like I said, it will be a pig like every other Dodge/Chrysler. 425 horse hemi? What are the dyno numbers to the wheels of those motors? GM's rating of 325 hp for my SS was way under, as its hitting over 300 rwhp now. So it has more like 350 net crank... I have never heard of Dodge rating that way.

If they wanted to use the Dukes popularity for a car the would loose a couple of doors from the charger not build a challenger. If there should be a remake of the movie Vanishing Point the Challenger would be capitalizing on it. I still think dodge missed the mark by using the wrong car for the retro thing. If you are going to put it out there with a "HEMI" it should be a cuda. Of course you have no plymouth so no cuda.

I have seen all of the big three go through the same thing GM is going through right now. Chrysler has been almost gone more times than I can count. GM however does need to be mindful of its market when pricing the camaro.

When its a known fact that GM looses around 2 grand per car they build its hard not to think that

Not trying to flame or anything, but please if you don't mind show me where you heard that or saw that.

I'd like the charger with 2 doors. I'd certainly take it over the GTO:

I agree they did keep it safe with the simple yet real muscle car lines same thing are the stang. Yes the camro does look like nothing else out there. It seems like you love it or hate it. I am a fan of the pony wars.

It all boils down to PRICE :dontknow: what's it going to cost...That will determine failure or success. The rest is up to the car Gods.

Question though I was never a big fan of the GTO I'd still like to own one but why are sales so bad? I think it is over priced. Especially by the dealers thinking they have gold...good so the gold pile will just sit there. I hate dealerships:mad:
