does a stock TB fit on a fast intake? i know thoe TB size and port size on the intake wont line up i just want to know if it will fit so i can use it untill i have the money for the TB. also is the 90mm worth it for my car,(i have a lid, headers, and duals) or is it to big? or in other words does my car make enough power to take advantage of the 90mm intake? thanks.

First off, I think a 90mm LSX is overkill for your car. It only really benefits on H/C or FI cars. But moving on........the 78mm would work well and the stock TB will bolt right up.

im guessing the 90mm would still give me more power but at high rpms and the 78mm will give me a little less but a better power curve? did i get that straight? ...wheres Jaber he would know exactly whats what.(not that you dont gettinthere)

By going to the 90mm you may actually lose power. It sounds wierd, but I've seen it happen. You have too little trying to move too much air. Noe I'm not saying that this will happen, just a thought.

And I can admit that Jaber knows a bit more than me. :D

would just a reg. GM LS6 be a better option for my car?

Honestly, yes I'd say so. On a mostly stock motor the extra $300 for a few hp isn't worth it. You can pick up a used LS6 intake for $250-$300 or so and it's a peice of cake to put on.

I wouldl do an LS6 intake and a ported stock throttle body. This should be more than enough.

if you plan on a nice size cam and decent heads soon, the 90mm might be worth it. thats why i have a fast90mm, a 230 232 cam and AFR 205s flow a good bit of air and don't want the intake being a restriction. for bolton cars with no plans of heads or cam, stick with teh LS6 and a ported TB. you can always get the LS6 ported later on for a few more ponies

I'm running a 231/231 and soon to be adding the smal bore AFR 225's all through the LS6 and ported TB combo. That is until I can afford the 90/90 set up. I would say with what you are running, the LS6 would be plenty.

I'm just now looking into the 90/90 and I'm H/C moving lots of air myself.

Find you an LS6 :)

sorry i was late to the party guys....
I believe the best answer to your question is another question.
what are your plans for this car?

If your plans are to stay bolt ons or cam only, then dont waist your money on the LSX. your money would be better spent on a nice ported TB. you can acheave the same if not more HP gain from a good ported TB and LS6 combo as you can from the 78mm LSX alone and your price would be the same.

however, if you know for a fact that a big H/C , stroker, or FI , are in your future then i would say what i always say, do it once , do it right. and go with the 90/90, no need to spend money twice to upgrade the same parts...

Good luck either way

Oh man please dont think that.... I dont know NEARLY everything there is to know about cars, racing, or even the ls1...
The things i learned are from people who knew more, and trial and error on my own cars for the last 11-12 years...
I am glad to help, but I know there are guys here and on other good sites that have forgotten more about cars then I probably will ever know.
