GM Wants to know what you think.

As for me, I loved the car through and through.

THe car is pretty retro w/o being full out retro. Rather than picking one car and copying it literally (Challenger?) They did a predominantly 1st gen design and added flavors from all the previous generations while still adding in some new shapes.

I love the interior except for the console gauges. Don't like taking my eyes off the road to look down at those.

The side profile is dead sexy and the external dimensions are dead on.

Only complaint I have is THEY AREN'T BUILDING THEM YET.

I love it. Simple enough. It's got great lines, a very aggressive look, awesome stance, and I love what they did with the interior.

I really liked the side profile pics, didn't even mind the more pointy nose. However from the front pics, the cars grill and front bumper need some serious work. That air inlet at the base of the cowl hood needs to go, and the grill needs to look less like a big toothy grin.

I love the fact that the engine appears to be under the hood, not the dash. I think the wheel wells could be a little smaller so that the production 17" or 18" wheels fill the wells nicely, and you don't need the ridiculous 20" + wheels.

The interior needs work. The gauges looked ridiculous and really stupid. Interiors on older cars is something we don't need retro. They were terrible then, and no amount of razzle dazzle can update them for today. Also GM if you're reading this, please take note for ALL of your cars. Stop making the radio a vital part of the car electronics and A/C. Aftermarket stereo mfg's aren't in business because a couple people like them. They are around because no matter how good you think your stereos are in cars, they aren't good enough for all of us. Make it easier to put in an aftermarket system, not harder. GM obviously attends enough CES and SEMA shows to know the public likes their own tunes.

Engine wise, hp is great but not if it raises the price too high. If the Camaro comes out as a $30k + car it will be another in a long line of niches vehicles. Camaro needs to be the brand name for the guy too old for the import scene, but doesn't have the pocketbook to be in a Vette. The car needs to have a mid $20s pricetag. If doing so means a little less hp I think people won't mind. Or at the very least do something really retro, and offer consumers several levels of hp for their money. Just look at the dismal sales of the GTO. The car sold the best when huge rebates and employee pricing took the 04 car into the mid to high $20s. GM added 50 more hp at the original $30's pricetag and they sold worse.

GM you could have a huge hit on your hands, but you gotta strike while the fire is hot. Waiting 3 years is a huge mistake IMO. You're letting your competition take potential buyers by waiting. At the very least commit to a production date.

Considering the "bulkiness" (Front), the lines resemble the STS Cadillac ......or is this definitely NOT an extension of other GM platforms? Aeodynamically, yuck, but w/400+ ponies who cares (lol)

I just have mixed emotions about this vehicle, and maybe it will grow on me over time. It appears to sit higher than the traditional F-bodies too, but maybe the pic is deceiving.

The pic is deceiving as it sits pretty low. Definite caddy influences as it is said the concept car rides on a donated CTS Chassis.

It needs to sit higher. That was a huge complaint about 4th gens from consumers especially women. That's a big reason why Mustangs sell better. You're not laying on the ground while driving.

Tru Dat;)

Man, I would love to stay w/GM, but only time will tell. I just hope that they don't bring out a 2ton vehicle and expect it to rival the Stangs or SRT's.
Let's hope they have done their homework and make the comeback a success.:eureka:

Damn, I would have loved to see the show, but maybe they'll be sponsoring one to closer to us sometime in the near future.

IMHO, GM needs to focus on (3) items:

Cost competitiveness (bang for the buck)
Styling enhances/uniqueness (i.e. F-bodies)
Weight distribution/performance characteristics to rival MOPAR and FORD

If GM can manage to tow the line, then they may have some success in regaining market share.

I like it a bit, but i will hold off final judgement for a few more years. this thing is has so far to go to make it into production that it will change by that time. i agree that it needs to have a good balance of performance and price, while not giving us crappy interiors and drivetrains(10 bolt)

Chris, are you passing this on to anyone in particular? Like I posted yesterday, right now I am really wondering where they got that front end...... but I have committed to buying one so just as long as it's got a nice healthy V8 AND a robust rear end that'll handle it I'll take one.

These comments will hopefully make their way to Settlemire.

I could handle more 1st gen retro. I don't really see the 3rd gen in it. Of course, there isn't much resemblance between the generations, so even if you put a little of each in it, it "should" be new looking, anyway.

My personal tastes would lean toward shorter quarters and rear panel. I don't like that in the latest Vettes, either.

I'm glad to hear the 20" rims are concept-only, I hate those things. 17" is max in my book.

Not sure how much my opinion really matters, the chances of me ever buying one (especially new) are next to nil. My favorite generations are 1st & 3rd - although 4th is okay. I never warmed up to 2nd.

I love the front end and side profile....But the rear of that car just screams thrown together....The taillights just don't fit....This is where GM should have stuck with the retro square lights....Updated they would be sexy....

Well im going to comment .. unfortunately its not in the Plus ..

Its obvious they wanted styling cues from First gens .. what the hell happened i see where they started out right but damn .. they dropped the ball ive seen better designs for a real comeback car everywhere but on GM's Homepage ..

I think this one aint worth the 2009 wait .. i have always had GM but lately im dis-appointed .. looks like ill end up with a Challenger .. hell it may be slower but what they did was nothing short of beautiful .. and it is what every hot rodder out there loves to do .. styling from 60's and 70's with todays advancements i.e. small displacement high output, comfort , ride and handling .. Sorry GM , I Love Ya but when ya let me down by killing an icon and bring that thing back .. wow , its a let down.

I LOVE it. Definetly needs smaller wheels though. Unlikely I will be able to afford one when it comes out. But if I am able to I will be getting one.

The body looks hardcore! Definately will look awesome when passing a mustang! However, i really don't like the interior, retro works for the outside, but nowadays the interior needs to be modern, funcional, practical, and easy on the eyes while impressive. The C6 corvette interior, in my opinion, could not be any more awesome! If they could implement more of the ideas from the corvette interior and the 4th gen camaro/firebirds interior they would have a seriously amazing 5th Gen Camaro coming out!

I would buy it today with no changes and be 100% satisfied. I really like everything about the car. I think they definitely made a huge impact. It is truly worthy of the name Camaro.

However, if they do make changes before it hits production (and we all know there will be changes) I would like the outside of the front fenders toned down a touch. I beg GM not to do anything to make the look of the headlights change. To me that whole area is a masterpiece. They can make the egg crate smaller, but don't change the headlights. They give the whole front of the car an agressive look. The whole car looks like it is ready for battle!

I love the side profile, hate the front and back-end. I LOVE the interior, i love that old school flavor. I know it'll be changed but damn that was cool, to see a classic interior renovated into a modern car like that.

First off, i love the car!! My question is, was the camaro they debuted the Z28 or SS? It doesnt have any emblem on it other than Camaro. Are they going to have both the Z28 and SS come out? What about the RS option with the hidden headlights?

It was just a Camaro.

As to the rest of your questions, all that is still unanswered right now.
