This is the best still I got of the car, a movie. Many others here got great stills so tonight we're all going to share pics.

The wireless at the hotel is still slow and even worse now with everybody here online uploading pics.

Watch the video.ls1lt1.com for a video I took too. I'll try to get everything up here later for you guys.

lookin sharp. can't wait to see a full shot of the thang. what are those yellow things in the center console?

Chris 96 WS6

Yellow things are gauges. Speedo and Tach are on the dash, the other gauges are down in front of the shifter.

BTW, powertrain in this particular car (doesn't mean the production car will have this, as its not been officially OK'd yet) is an LS2/T56.

21 inch front wheels
22 inch rears

Fully independent rear suspension

Dash is pretty stupid, as expected. But concept car dashes are always ridiculous.

But seeing the car around people gives me a better idea of size. Looks good. Too bad GM seems to not think it's a priority.

i like that much better than the "illegal" photos that were released a while ago. still wish they would have went with the retro look though. that concept that was out a couple years ago is incredible...

but ill still take two of these :)

Chris 96 WS6

You don't think this one is plenty retro??????

Chris 96 WS6
01-09-2006, 03:10 PM
I'll say this:

The car has A LOT more presence in person. It is very low/wide, even though the pictures I don't think show it.

Karps TA
01-09-2006, 03:19 PM
yeah not sure how much more retro they could have gone?

Just wish it had a larger grill area with hide-away lights RS/SS-ish

I dunno know, I still would have to see this in person first. I still like the retro Challenger (albeit shorter/stouter look).........and that is the only knock I have against the MOPAR. Looks like a shortened wheelbase too.

Thanks for the pics

its retro for sure, but with a space age feel... but one "new" camaro that was drawn up a couple years ago is just perfect IMO. im sure everyones seen it but i dont have any pics on my comp, ill try and find some somewhere

The front pic needs work. They need to get rid of the inlet at the start of the cowl. Looks like the Cheshire Cat grinning.

Yeah, that looks kinda retro to me!

Chris 96 WS6
01-09-2006, 06:16 PM
It is very retro inspired, but when you think about it vs the Dodge Challenger, its not retro as in they didn't pic 1 year Camaro and make an exact copy of it. It has cues from several years plus lots of new shapes.

I'm not really thrilled by the front end..... other than that, I like the body styling. The front (as mentioned above) might look more appealing in person. I'm just happy that GM is exploring some options to compete with Ford and Dodge.

Dodge is the manufacturer that is really shocking me with some cool designing  .

Lets hope that Chevy builds this car and doesn't do a "Dodge Charger" on us.

The concept Charger looked great back in 2001 but the production Charger was way-way-way different. :barf:

I hate to be the downer or the party pooper but personally i don't feel much toward it. I own 2 vehicles considered the last of their kind, why give away the ability to say that. The new camaro yeah its a great idea and GM def. needs something to fit the pony car category since the GTO isnt cutting it, but I feel they all now look to familiar. To similar one company form the other the MUSTANG first then the Challenger, and now the Camaro. They destroyed the GTO and the Charger. i don't feel that by slapping the camaro badge on this concept that gm will accomplish enough the camaro only has what 400 hp so its an LS2. We have already overcome putting LS2's in the 4th gen's as well as big blocks. I dont see the relevance.(sp?)

It is nice though for what it is. I feel maybe they should bring the Chevelle w/ that body rather then the camaro

I don't know why everyone is all ooohhs & aaahhs about this car.
Is it because the Camaro name is coming back because if that's it, there are some blind brand loyal people here because that car is kinda hideous looking, inside & out.

The Challenger looks MUCH better than the Camaro does, or even the retro Mustang for that matter.

And this is coming from a person who's owned more GM's than any other type car.

You watch, the Challenger I think will crush Camaro, & Mustang sales.

i myself am camaro lover through and through. even though i own a pontiac. i love the side view. very retro. and damn close too. the rear is hideous. way too flat. just looks like a dinner table. front needs changes as well. but nothing major. and am i the only one thats wondering about maybe an '09 t/a? id buy it in a heartbeat.:poke:

Along with dodge muffing the charger how about GM;s recent mistake then gto. 99 concept looks freekin awesome and me being a gto fan myself was excited. And that was what i got. Rumor has it though from an insider i know the gto not onyl gets restyled but it gets a judge package too!! WOOOT.

I would disagree with the 99 GTO concept looking good. It looked like the 60's batmobile but orange.

Wonder if a young boy in tights was standard or optional if you bought one.

looks like a 69 camaro in the rear. and the dash and center console look like an ss option from the 60's nice car. i think i want one.

Thanks for the great pics Chris. I like how Lutz says its not slated for production yet, its just a concept.

BTW the challenger looks like a fat pig.

I think to really cause a stir they need to offer 109 cars with the ZO6 engine and call them ZL-1s when they come out in 2009.

Chris how was the crowd/media reaction for the camaro compared to the other unveilings at the show?

Chris how was the crowd/media reaction for the camaro compared to the other unveilings at the show?

During the time that we were there, which was only about 3.5 hrs, there might as well have been no other cars in the building, as none drew any significant crowds vs. the Camaro. The press dove upon this car and GM execs once the deal was over. Challenger was old news compared to the Camaro yesterday.

Great pics! I hope to see it next Tuesday myself. As far as retro goes, I think it has just enough retro in it to set it off. The other pics that were floating around forthe past couple years were a little too retro for me. I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:thumbsup: :D

If you liked the old challenger, you'll like the new one. It's very, very retro. Personally, I like it, but not as much as the Camaro by far.

the only thing im thinking now about all this is that chevy will never make a car that outshines the corvette. i think it would be God's car if they would throw an ls7 into it. but at the max ill ever expect is an ls2

With the Z06 going to the 600hp LS3 in a couple years, GM's going to need a product to put the LS7 in ;)

there's an ls3?
There will be. The new 6.2L L92 truck motor will be the LS3 in car form. They're going to add a blower to it and call it LS9 for the Z06.

Got a good look at the 5th Gen "concept" at the K.C. auto show this last weekend, It looks alot better in person than in the pictures. Chevy reps at the show said they are looking for feed back to decide if and when they will produce the 5Th Gen. If you think they should produce it go to www.chevy.com and click "contact us" and send them an Email with what you think, we need them to return.

The GTO's are getting better, The Mustang's are much better - I hope the new Camaro & the Challenger SRT8 concepts are built. It would be a blast to choose from these cars which one to buy. I'm not really into Vipers and the new Z06 is to rich for me right now. I'm a Chevy guy at heart, so here's hoping for the Camaro to return...
