I am rebuilding a 94 LT1 and need a harness and pcm, can I use a newer one so I can tune it and not have to buy a chip every time I want to upgrade. This will be going into a 63 nova ss. Thank you for any help:dontknow:

I would like to know how much the average cost is and roughly how many companies make them?

Painless wiring I believe makes the harness, and you may be able to buy the PCM from them. I would probably buy the PCM at a junk yard and I would get either a 94/95. They are OBD1, so they are supposedly a little easier to tune.

You only have to burn chips in the 93's. 94+ had the chips soldered in and you have to flash the EPROM. Just get a 94.

I have a painless harness I got for my LT1 swap in my truck. It works good, but I paid 565 on ebay new and they make a haness for use without the 4l60e which is around 375 dollars. Its really easy to use all labeled, you just need to wrap the wires with wire rap and ties. For the tuning, you want a 94 or 95 pcm for the lt1 you can find on ebay for 50 dollars usually. the ones for camaros and firebirds are more expensive than the caprices. the number i have is 16188051. I bought my own aldl cable new from MaStach.com for 45 dollars and the tuner cat program for 70 and the definition file for 20. I can reprogram for simple stuff if anyone wants, and aslo there is a site online for that pcm with calibration files for flashing, heres the link...

and aslo ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/bin_lib/flashproms/

that gives a couple files. coolwave04@aol.com if anyone needs help gettin started or for information on the harness. Jeff
