dont get me wrong there neat little cars for the most part but why all of a sudden is it like uncool to have a v8 rwd camaro or mustang ?? that the only real fast cars are I4 turbos with awd. i show up with my car and get no attention but a stock 240 hp evo comes up and everyone comes running lol i just odnt get it.. i wish i had been around for the muscle car era

RWD V-8s haven't been "cool" to American pop culture in years. It's all about the ricer shit now. But who cares? I'd rather be fast than look cool.

anthony when ur down at dunks theres never any rice...pretty much all f bodies and some stangs.... so where do u show up with ur car that u get no attention...worcester(rice capital of the world) lol its straight out of the fast and the furious lol

ever since the fast and the furious came out this phase of fart can exhausts, intakes and sticker decals has gotten way outta control imo....granted there are and were fast imports out there before that movie ever came out....but its the people with these "rice" burners that give them a bad name.
i find it very ammusing when they think that there 100hp car will destroy a V8...and its even better when they keep trying to race you and get destroyed every single time....RICE is a joke i laugh everytime i hear my weedwacker drive by...nuthing can compare to the loud rumble and raw power of a V8 american muscle car !!! :thumbsup:

i really like the EVO and STi, i might have one if i could of come close to affording one when i got the T/A. they are really fast and can give us a good run. but they don't have the raw power that a healthy LS1 has

I would never seriously mod them. Maybe a turboback, uppipe, and engine management, but nothing more. The only reason I got mine was for a winter driver.

F-Bodies are where it's at. The turbo AWD thing is pretty much just a fad right now. It'll blow over.

Sounds like your in the wrong place then. But there is no denying an impreza sti is a fast car stock and modded even faster. i got my ass handed to me by a stage 2 sti. once we both hit 2 gear he was pulling away. but as always :finger: imported cars. except as DD's

A cammed LS1 can mop up most imports, save Supras. Turbo AWD cars are often limited by the drivetrain.

Nah i dont have a judge its jsut my fav car of all time. i was in my stock lt1 at the time. so it wasnt very fair stage 2 vs a stock lt1.

Hey watch it! Not all of them are ricers. My son's been playing with the 2.0 Talons and they run very well!! The drivelines are a little weak but the motors are strong. A friend thought the same thing they all run in the high teens.He now has a new respect :notworthy for the imports after his 1993 Cobra lined up next to the Talon on grudge night. It wasn't pretty for the blue oval.
I am not trying to start an argument but they are not all fart canned winged ricers. The Cobra ran 13.57 and the Talon ran 12.50 with a 1.65 short time on crappy Firestone tires with bolt ons only.

Also true i had a magazine i bought a while back that i had to buy it was an HCI mag but i couldnt resist my taste for going fast. Some speed shop made a 2.2 liter honda sohc 4 cyl hit 600hp N/A call bs all you want but it was a completely forged motor 2.2 bored out to i dont member it made liek 597 on the dyno.

I do agree with you that there are some fast imports. I have no problem with a fast car and I don't care where it's from. There are some really fast imports out there and I give them props for that. It's your typical "Ricer" that I think is a waste. Just because it's a import don't assume that it only runs 17's.
Just the other night at the Drag strip there was a 4 door sedan (I think it was a buick) with the headlight taken out that all the import guys were laughing at while it was in the staging lanes, once he pull a low 12 second run they weren't laughing at him anymore. I'm a car guy so I like all kinds of cars, I was just referring to the typical Fast and the Furious Ricer.

All true but its important to realize that is their form of customization i usually dont rag on them because its important to be an enthusiast. Im not just a muscle heads im a car enthusiast. I happen to be a big fan of porsche's not many other guys are like that. Its ls1 or nothing. But its important to have respect sure their car sucks but dont make fun im sure if they had the dough they would make it fast.

Yeah I've seen reverse descrimination, where even though some say ricers hate everything with a V8, they themselves won't give any 4-cylinder a chance. In all honesty though, I find that muscle car enthusiasts are some of the more open-minded people about cars.

I used to be that way. But when it came down to it i drove a 6 banger firebird lol. I used to say when i get a v8 i wont turn into an ass like most ls1 guys do. And i have stuck true. I respect everyones car no matter who it is or what the car is. Like i said im not just a muscle head im a car enthusiast.

The majority of AWD/turbo guys that I know are far from ricers. Most of them are just like us domestic guys, but with a different platform. They're eager to make their cars quicker either downt he strip or around the twisties. My experiences on the Subaru boards were actually pretty pleasant- most of them are level headed guys who hate ricers just as much as we do.

around here ricers get the most attention but ya know what I know that our car is better why well for one thing It does not have an unpainted bodykit on it, It does not have a wing made of a 2x4 and does not have neon lights what does it have HORSEPOWER!!!!! :rockon:
My kids 2.0 makes good horsepower without the neon,wing/body kit also! There is a 3 1/2 inch exhaust tip hanging out the back though,and it goes all the way to the turbo.Oh yeah it made 584 of them horsepower thingys you were talking about on Buschurs dyno at the wheels.

500hp hell I have never seen a "Ricer" with more horsepower than a sewing machine with glass packs.

im with ya there thrashn, most ricers arent making much power. i also think ricer is more of an atitude that a make or model of car. there are some really cool people that drive really fast hondas and there are some really.... well ricerish people that drive stangs

Well I was thinking of getting a 98 LS1 camaro or trans am but If they are too expensive Then I'm getting an Iroc. I think It would be kind of hard getting a stock TPI It probably not run that well.

I found a 99 ss for 7800 it wasnt bad. And why not a stock tpi. mostly slowness. The power you speak of ricers not having alot out there will be beating you. Kid at my school has a 90 TPI i beat him and his buddy with an 89 tpi trans am. In my 6.

Edit: notice i said stock tpi as well.

I miss driving my AWD Eclipse. I sold it before I got real crazy into making it go faster. I had done some of the basic bolt-on stuff. It was a quiet sleeper. I just couldn't stand not being able to carry more than a newspaper and a pack of gum in the hatch, so I sold it.

A coupla friends of mine are pretty heavy into them, and have street-legal low-11 second Talons. They are shooting for 9's with one of them - I haven't seen them race this year at all to know if they are there yet.

I like my V8 cars. I also like FAST. Any way ya do it. :cool:
