Convert LT1 to carburetor

I have a 1940 Ford with a 1995 Impala SS LT1 engine. I converted the LT1 to use a carburetor. Everything is working fine, a lot of power, etc. Only problem I have is to get the engine to breath. I have the PCV in the value cover with breather cap on the other side. I still have smoke coming from the breather hole, and will push oil through the breather. I have tried several PCV types and the one that works the best has a nipple on the bottom of the PCV value. It is for a 1967 283 engine.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
