:mad::mad:Anybody had to replace a regulator? Need some tips or instructions.
My driver's door regulator is junk. The roller is broke off the vertical piece that keeps the window from going in and out, and the other 2 rollers that ride in the window track are worn out. Went to replace bad motor and found this also. I'm SO tired of working on this car. :mad: I'm ready to drive it!!!
Well, you have to take the motor off of the old regulator first to get the old regulator out. The window must be up to get the old out. Just work the regulator out of the tracks the best way you can. It has to come out towards the back of the door (door latch)
Then just slide the new on in w/out the motor on, get it in the tracks, preload the spring properly and I always zip tie the toothed part of the regulator to the other part of the regulator after I preload the spring until i can get the motor in.
Not that hard of a swap. I've done it 3 times so far.

Thanks, for the info. What do I do about the roller that's broken on the window itself? This is the roller that rides in the track from the bottom of the door to the top of the door. This roller has broken out of the window assembly.
If i'm thinking of the one your talking about, i'll tell you what i did. I worked on this for a friend and I found me a roller assembly off of a spare door i had. Drilled a hole in it, and tapped it and put a bolt in it. Hasn't fallen off yet! Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice. I got it repaired. I was able to get to the roller shaft with my welder. So I spot welded it back to the window track, installed a new motor assembly and now can go thru a drive in again.
NOTE: have wet rag handy to keep the roller from melting too much. :lol:

thats what i ended up doin on mine, i dont know how much longer its gonna last tho, window rattles like a sonbitch when its down and i shut the door. think im gonna be doing this swap fairly soon. thanks for the pointers
