I know tire height affects the gearing so would a 26" or 28" tire be better in the 1/4 mile?

It depends on your mods really. Can we get a list?

A bigger tire will give you slightly better traction, because the tire is almost like a gear. If you have smaller tires, you will accelerate slightly faster...

...I think...

But, wider tires will also give you better traction because the area of tire touching the ground is greater.

Yes but a taller tire will cost you acceration unless you go to a steeper rear gear to compensate.

The bigger tire is better for launching because it provides more contact patch and more wrinkle area, but the downside is taller gearing..so you gear down the rear diff to make up for it.

That's why you see serious drag cars with 28" tires and big gears like 4.56:1.

Pretty much eveything I was going to say. Gear the car (combo or tires/gears) to go through the traps at the right #.

the taller the tire the more mph in the traps
