What brand long tubes do you guys prefer? I have seen some REALLY good prices on PaceSetters, and know that the Hookers among others can be had for good prices w/ Kooks and QTPs on the higher side... So what do you run or prefer?

I have QTP headers, quality is beyond excellent. I have friends with pacesetters, and they love them, good fitment. With me, i knew i was gettin QTP or Kooks, i got QTP cause they had a GP first

I'm probably going to go w/ some Pacesetters and a true dual system from TSP at some point. I love the way they sound on these cars...

1.75 Kooks for starters, hard to beat the quality and performance IMA.

Seriously, Pacesetters would be fine for your application.
If you've got the money (I don't), I'd get some QTP's with the HVM's

you know what I'm going to say........Kooks! I had their stepped 1-3/4" to 1-7/8", going into the 3" true duals w/x-pipe and Moroso Spiral Pro's that I built, and with my set-up sounded nothing but wicked!!! It made pretty decent power too! hehe :D

Screw spending that money on the big names unless you have concerns with long term durability (sure stainless will last 10 years, but ceramic coated will last half that, you can buy a new set in five years, and still be under the cost of the stainless).
I have Pacesetters and am so ridiculously happy with my choice. Another dime on a "better" set of headers would have been wasted money IMO. Unless you have a max effort car, no sense in spending more.

I've got Kook's with the catted Y. I love them. Fit, finish and everything is top notch and the tuck up really great. I only lost 1/2" vs. stock.
Pacesetter are decent for the money though and actually fairly easy to install.

I have a buddy running Pacesetters and Hooker catback. From what I've been told that'll sound pretty close. And IMO his car sounds good.

It is absolutely awful. When I first added headers & off road y pipe I still had my loudmouth...I heard it would be loud, but I figured I'd get used to it. A week later I had a Magnaflow in the mail. The loudmouth w/ headers is not only super loud, but it sounds flat out awful with the rasp. I would race full out race cars @ the drag strip and you could still hear mine over theirs!! The magnaflow however is perfect. It sounds very mean when I get on it, but otherwise it is tame. You will love 'tame' when you get on the highway with 4.10 gears and your exhaust doesn't kill your ears at 2,000 rpms.
As far as brand I cannot say enough for Pacesetters...incredibly cheap, great fitment. Even brand new they are only $374.00 coated! I got mine used for $325 shipped. I do not recommend the pacesetter y pipe however, it fits really crappy.

the main trouble with the loudmouth off LT's is that it is a wide open y-pipe configuration, y-pipes will allways have a higher note tone, that plus the volume of a open exhast makes for a very unpleasent sound. Add to that, that it seams the LM + LT combo seams to "tune" the exhast note to the very worst frequency(for lack of a better word) and it causes the drone to be unbearable to most.
if you are looking for the power of a wide open exhast but a "deeper" exhast note, look for a true duel set up

I picked up some Flowtech Ceramic Coated LT's barely used and a brand new Flowtech 3in ORY for $350 bucks. I couldn't be more happier with the fit. JUst went to GM and bought brand new bolts and gaskets and they have not leaked yet. As for the LM 1 or 2 on LT"S and a ORY. It's not going to be something you will get used to. After I put my headers on. MY LM 1 stayed on there for 150miles. Then I had a Hooker in the mail. (To bad she didn't have tits) As for a Hooker sounding like a LM 1 or 2 on LT's, no way. My LT's ORY and Hooker exhaust. Are quieter than my stock maniflolds, stock y-pipe, and LM 1 exhaust. Now a LM can be made to sound good with cat's. But never with a ORY. The LM 2 is alittle better but it's still raspy.

I'm running Pacesetter Longtubes and did have one fluke bad weld on an egr tube. I was a month or so outside the first year of warranty and all I had to do was ship the old one back and they got me a replacement out for free. They look and fit well. I have the coated one's. Now approaching 2 years of use.

I Run the Pacesetter's simply because i was ignorant and thought its just metal and weld ... After 3 months of leaky horrid sounding header's i finally got them to shut the hell up ... it took 1) an act of god 2) 3 hail mary's 3) an act of congress that was sent through the house twice before being ratified Next Engine Swap .. Stainless Works is getting a call

If it were me and money were no option I'd get the TTS headers like GMMG used.....maybe not the bang-for-buck leaders but I loved how OEM it all looked and how thick the flanges were, etc. etc.
Probably the best quality set of longtubes I've seen yet and well packaged under the car too.

That's the same thing that happened to mine. Oddly enough, it was the rearward one on the passenger side that isn't used for my application.

nuke, i truely hope this was not for a LS1 car...
if so it was a waist of $$$,
shorty headers have shown little to no gains on a LS1 car. reason, the stock manafolds are actually pretty good, you dont see gains until you get into the mid to long tube header styles...
if its a LT1 you might pick up 5 hp...

I picked up a set of SLP headers with a custom mandrel bent with flowmaster merge Y. I think the clearance and flow will be better this way. Not to mention pretty much all SS. Not bad for $500. If money were no object, I would go QTP.

I've seen quite a few QTP Y pipes that really hang low though. That's one of the reasons I went Kook's.

I think it all depends on what you want to do with the car. If you're more about budget hp, then go with pacesetters or hooker. If you're wanting to make it look nice for shows/and hp then go with kooks. Either way you're going to be getting just about the same amount of gains from either one.

Idk if yall know this, but all QTP 1 3/4 headers have their HVMC spike in them, and the price has come down.
