View Full Version : chevy crate engine in my olds?

well i currently have a 83 olds(98 regency).this is my luxury car anyhow my question is i currently have a 350 from a 77 cutlass in the car.i want a new engine not sure if i should rebuiled this engine or get a crate engine.does anyone know if a chevy 350 will fit in my car with the current motor mounts or will i have to do alot of fabracateing?i would like to get at least 350hp to the wheels.thanx for the inputs an help.

It won't fit in the current mounts. But, you should be able to get SBC mounts to fit on the frame.
350 HP to the wheels will require at least 450 at the crank. That's a pretty healthy crate engine, and probably won't be the most street-friendly. The GM ZZ383 puts out 425 at the crank (with a single plane intake, which isn't very street friendly), and that's a healthy crate engine (with a healthy $5k price tag b/4 tax & shipping).

umm ok some things to think about.thanx for the insight five7kid.well maybe i wount need that much power,but its such a heavy car an i wanna make sure i can get up an go if i wanna.i was thinkin maybe just gettin a custom ground cam with some head work,stall an gear.maybe ill be happy with that.
