I don't think the previous owner did anything. The SLP sticker is hard to read, and I need to try and read it when its light outside so I can try to decipher it. Have a feeling the wheels came on the car. Some did. He did put an aftermarket shifter in the car though. Proabably a pro5.0 or a Hurst. Need to pull it to see. It doesn't have a rubber isolator like some do.

Mods... PAY FOR IT. It would have started w/ a shifter, but since its there already... who knows. More than likely cutout and a set of the halo headlights...

If there's no rubber isolator and the shifter is a gold color then it's a Pro 5.0.

Haven't pulled the top piece yet to see the base of the shifter. Through the boot you can feel the two bolts on the side, so its not a B&M since they are one piece. You can feel there isn't an isolator... By the feel of how notchy it is my guess before looking is hurst.

The Pro 5.0 is a bit notchier than the Hurst is.

LOL... depends on the transmission!!! LOL. I have friends w/ each, and ones pro 5.0 is notchy, but the aftermarket hurst is WAY worse!!! He does have a tranny problem though...

You have a point about the trans. Personally I like the notchy feel of my Pro 5.0.

OH I love the way it feels. It takes some getting used to on the speed shifting though...

Actually since there was no year zero, a 2000 is still a 20th century car :P

if the ZR1s are the ones im thinkin of, then my SS has painted ZR1s on it from the factory(or SLP)

Fenster

Some SSs came w/ ZR1 wheels from SLP. I checked the sticker and it was part of the SLP options that came on my car.

LOL... Yeah its a 2000 SS M6. I took Chris 96 WS6 for a ride last night... LOL needless to say that so far first and 2nd gear are worthless...

One of the SLP options was a set of chrome ZR1's. I looked at all that crap when I was going to order a 2002 SS new. Needless to say that was an expensive option because they didn't give you a trade in credit on the OEM 17's and tires. It was like a $1500 option.

That SLP lid was bought later too...as it was only available new on 2002 cars. Wasn't an option in 2000. The wheels could have been put on later....hell the owner could have just bought the lid, wheels and shifter from SLP, as they do sell the OEM hurst.

By the way if you call SLP and give them your VIN they can tell you what SLP options came on the car new.

Fenster

The badge on the passenger door says what the car came w/ from SLP. It says the options on the car was Chrome Wheels, Floor Mats, and badging only IIRC. The lid and shifter were added after the fact. Its not an OEM shifter, as there is NO isolator in it. Down to the Hurst or the Pro 5.0. I am really starting to think Hurst though judging by how Bob's Hurst was w/ the HEAVY middle return springs. (return the nob to the middle of the shifter in neutral).

I thought that was the biggest praise of the 5.0, the offset spring that forced the shifter into the middle to help with the 2-3 shift?

Fenster

Aftermarket Husts have the same thing. I just remember BOb's being really springy, and Tim's wasn't as much. Who knows. I will pull the top tonight and check it.

I've got the factory hurst which, with a short stick, is pretty springy :)

Fenster
11-18-2005, 03:13 PM
I need to feel yours cam. It just doesn't feel spongy at all... like Renner's factory hurst w/ that isolator...

Chris 96 WS6
11-18-2005, 03:26 PM
Mine doesn't have the isolator.

Yank it out and throw a Pro 5.0 in there.

Fenster
11-21-2005, 03:11 PM
Why? I have driven all three (pro 5.0, aftermarket hurst, and factory hurst) and honestly don't see that much difference in any of them. What I got in there is going to stay for a while. Maybe I will switch later, but whats in there is cool for now.
