Russ is piloting the car down at Silver Dollar Raceway in GA and has called me with updates.

1st run;
1.59/7.63@86/12.05@112 missing 4th
2nd run:
1.59/7.56@89.8/11.909@113.1 spinning the 60'

There is more in this car  but the racing is almost over around here...

Nice times! I'm interested in the suspension set up for those types of short times.

What is the weight of the car?

The driver has been eating alot of salads.
And the car can still lose nearly 100#s if I wanted to do that...and I am really considering it.....

I am waiting on someone to go quicker! Couple of guys say they are trying.
the LT1 could go 11.6x with weight reduction even more than mine and a great track/day.

Now the car is getting an LS1....I hope to have it ready by March if not sooner but little things keep creeping up so March is a good date to shoot for.

HOW ABOUT BOLT IN'S:werd:

Define "bolt ons".

Some people say heads are "bolt on", but a cam isn't.

I go exactly the opposite; cam is a bolt on (like intake manifold, headers), but changing the heads is a change to the basic configuration of the engine.

How about pistons? If you rebuild it, and use forged pistons of the same CR as stock, does that disqualify it as a "bolt on" engine?

Point is, you can define it any way you want so you qualify yourself and disqualify others who are faster than you.

This was not that way. The rules were set forth before hand. I dont remember all the rules but touching the bottom end was not in the cards.

This "Bolt on" stuff was born way back when GMHTP put on a bolt on shoot out in NJ.
IT was set for that headers/exhaust/pulleys/etc were allowed, no power adders. stock heads/cam. And at this time they allowed 1.6RRs with springs b/c that was a common upgrade the LT1 guys did from the get go and finding a set up that was not running it was tough so it was allowed.

Alot of people have left the bolt on scene but it was the most fun I have had in a long time, outrunning some Cammed LS1s is the stuff!!!

That 11.80 bolt-on record for LT1 Fbody is sweet!

Know also that the Bbody clut has the same rules for Bolt-on, (no touch-a-da-motor) but the heads can have upgraded rockers and valve springs)....

There is an Impala SS that ran 12.36 @ 107mph at 3900lb race weight Bolt-On record. That's faster than almost all of the heads/cam 350LT1 Impala SS cars, (and other b-bodies). If he could get 400lb out of that thing, (very do-able), he might see 11's!!

I like seeing those B's flying!! That 12.3 pass is faster than some LT1 cars, not matter what their mods are.

The bolt on stuff is fun!! more should try it!! or stick with it!

Im true to the bolt on cause! And I'm coming to get you Shon! ;) I'll be dropping about 200-300lbs this weekend (should get me to 3150 lbs race weight, and adding another 15ish rwhp. I am shooting for 12.3 first part of this year, and then going all out for 11.7X after that.

I am not going to cam, juice, or anything else until I have run 11.8x with bolt ons only.

I figure anything a Camaro can do a Formula can do better. :D

Look forward to trying!

I hear ya!!
if you need anything let me know!!
11.7 should be doable, I think if one really tried the 11.6 range could be done, but the raceweight would be 2800ish probably.

Thanks Shon. I'll be hitting you up for some A Arms, and K Member later this year. I need to play with my set up some before I order to make sure thats all I will need.

I'll more then likely be hitting in the 1.6Xs after this weekend. My traps are low and I think a new valve train will help pick things up top end. This weekend I'll be putting in some 1.6 RRs, Comp springs, Comp Titainum retainers, 10* locks, and lifters. I have 170K on my LT1 so it could use a little loving.

While swapping that out, it will get a recirculating coolant catch can, battery relocation, and lots of weight dropped from the nose. Im still running with a sway bar so it too will be dropped.

When its all said and done Im hoping for 300rwhp, and 3150lbs race weight. (Considering I'm 6'6" and weigh 240lbs, I think Ill hit the gym too.)

Cool
Russ was 240ish when he was in the car.
get a lightweight battery rather than relocation, reloc is added more weight, get a PC680 battery (hit me up for pricing).
Stock catch can deal is LIGHT, I removed it and ended up putting it back it was so light.
Remove teh sway bar and all the brackets!!

The relocation is just to put the weight where it should be (Over the wheels). I have an Red Top Optima now, but when I start running out of things to drop weight I will swap to a race battery for sure. This is a car I drive a few times a week. Somehow, Im willing to delete air bags (BTW do you know of a good write up for this?), but nervous about race batteries go figure!?

I have a friend with a LS1 with few bolt ons running 11.8s on street tires. He and I are are testing what works best. He has a very nice set up with the battery relocation, and catch can. Thats part of the reason I went that way.

The catch can is a recirculation type and will clean up some of the under hood clutter. Along with the windshield washer resv. It is a "little" lighter, and all those 1-2lbs add up. That coupled with the extra fluids being gone might get me 5lbs.

Im definitely taking care of the brackets, and crash guards etc! That stuff is a lot of weight. I've tried to remove the sway bar before, but ran into some issues. This weekend I will not be stopped!! Ill cut that sucker in pieces if I have to to get it off! HAHA

I have the radio in the car, but am only running the door speakers. One day I am gonna have to bite the bullet and remove it....

BTW I am an Admin over at Dixie Muscle Cars (http://www.dixiemusclecars.com) you should come over and visit sometime. We have a good many LT1s, and a ton of LSX's over there.

Dixie: formerly SEMCA?

I did not need the weight over the rear tires :devil:No matter what I did, it was removing weight unless there was no other option but to each his own.

Race battery never hurt me and the car sat for days/weeks at a time, heck months at times.

The brackets just unbolt :D

Speaker magnets are heavy.....

To delete airbag from the passenger side you just remove the dash and take the bolts out, yep, lots of fun!! and for the driver side replace steering wheel.

Dixie replaced SEMCA. he owner bought the domain. There are a few of the former members there, but its mostly people who know what they are doing, been there done that. Not much trash talking. None of the old mods, or admins are there or in charge. So consider it the new and improved SEMCA. All the good stuff, with non of the BS, and drama. We don't have many SC members. We need some so we can tell them War Eagle, and Rool Tide a few times a year!

I was afraid the air bag delete was gonna be a PIA.

Speaker magnets are heavy. Cruising with no tunes is depressing. If I had a track only car it would be gone, but I do enjoy some music. Its my one and only guilty pleasure. HVAC crap is gone already. ABS, EGR etc etc all gone.

Brackets will be gone!

Thanks for your help.
