I'm not sure if I have a bearing issue or what, but when I put my car in gear it seems like the rearend is sloppy. Has a kind of delayed reaction. Feels like it has to roll a second before grabbing. It does'nt feel like the transmission slipping though, feel it in the rearend. Any idea what would cause this and what to check for? It is the stock 10 bolt with an A4.

Its got to be transmission related. Can you explain how you are feeling it in the rear end? Could be something to do with 1st gear in the trans.

its like it takes a second from when you put it into gear that the rear tires try to move forward a bit, that sounds like the U-joint is worn out

I actually got to thinking that after I posted this, that it does act like a u joint. What's the best way to check?

get underneath and grab the driveshaft and move it up/down, side/side, shouldnt move at all, i dont think this should have to be said, but just incase
grab nearest the u-joint, not just anywere on the driveshaft, and remember, theres 2 so check both front and rear

Could also be to much backlash in the gears. You may have a set of worn out gears.
