Well, since your weren't very specific, I guess your choices are any cam that has ever been ground for an LT1. Or, you could go custom. As far as a converter goes, that depends entirely on what the car is used for. There isn't much info there, try to be more specific. I.E. what times are you looking for/HP #s...is it DD or track only? things of this nature.

97 WS6, A4, 323 gear. A set of pulleys and a cold air intake are the only mods. This is not a DD. What I had in mind was to change the cam, converter, and the gear (looks like the majority prefer 373s in an A4). I am looking for a combination that runs hard. Something similar to the Crane 227 for a camshaft maybe:dontknow:. At age 36, this is only the second small block car I have ever owned so I have no idea what these cars are capable of or what to expect. Thanks, Hap

The Crane 227 held a cam only record for quite some time, so I would say that'd be a great choice. The 227, 1.6 roller rocker's, chromemoly pushrods, and better springs and retainers, and you'll have a nice little valvetrain there.

I would also install headers and exhaust at the same time otherwise you would be leaving a lot under the table.

very true. with the stock manifolds, a better cam will not do alot for you, other than shifting the powerband.

the 227 is a great small cam. at 210*/224*. the 845 I have is very close to it, and the car runs very nice with the stock heads. If I had been the one to put the cam in, I would have gone with a custom grind cam, from Advanced Induction. But thats me. I really don't have complaints about the 845. I wish it had just a little more lope to it, and I wonder how much power I left on the table with the valve events being off just a bit from optimal. But the 227, and 845 are VERY close.
