What do i need to do to replace my oil pan in my 95 m6? Any writeups out there? Any tips on getting to the bolts on the drivers side? There are two pipes going back from the radiator that are in the way. Are these easy to remove? Also how do you unclip the oil level sensor? Mine doesnt seem to want to move and i don't want to break it. Thanks guys

all i can say is most people will tell you that you have to remove your transmission from your engine to get the oil pan off but i did it without removing the transmission

yeah ive heard stories of this too, but ive also heard people who have done it without removing their m6 tranny. Do you have an m6 or an a4?

i have an m6
I believe me and shak180 got into a discussion about this one time before. I tried pulling my pan off of a bone stock motor of course an M6 w/ the y-pipe gone and trans still connected and I failed miserably. This is w/ the motor still in the car connected to the bell housing & tranny, disconnected from the motor mounts, motor hoisted all the way up with the tranny hitting the tunnel of the floor. I wiggled and pryed and wiggled and finally after about 2 hours I said screw this and pulled the motor.
You'll either have to disconnect the tranny or drop the k-member for it to drop right out.

In my experience dropping the k-member is harder since the reinstalling it is very hard. I also did it by lifting the motor and pulling it forward, (only take out your radiator) and that was easier.

did you take out the cradle bolts and let it hang by the control arms cjk?
I've never pulled a motor from underneath for the lack of the proper equipment and i'm not about to jack my car up by some brace. I've always just pulled my motor from the top. This was when i first got my 95 TA with the blown #6 rod & piston, i wanted to check the damage before I pulled it down/out but couldn't get the pan out so out from the top she went.

where is the trans mount bolt? Ive heard that loosening this can help. Also when i am jacking up the motor, how do i know when the tranny will hit the trans tunnel?
Also, there are three bolts on each side for the K member correct? If i do have to drop the K member, can i just drop the threads an inch or two?
Finally, i tried removing the pan today, and it was very loose, but there is a thin sheet of metal between the pan and the tranny that is preventing the back end of the pan from coming down all the way. Can i just unbolt this?
Thanks for the help guys
