a friend of mine has a 93 caprice with a blown 4.3 that im going to buy for 800, i kno where to get a nice lt1 for cheap, but i was just wondering if the 4.3 acessories would fit on it because the 5.7 dosent come with anything.

a blown 4.3L V8 for $800 is a rip off, even as a complete turn key... I have purchased 3 running and driving LT1 caprices for less than that, and 4th for not much more.
to answer your question, yes, the L99 assy bolt right up to an L99. they are all the same. The only differences are, the L99 used a smaller output alt(100amp? LT1 is 140amp), and the injectors were a smaller flow amount 19 lbs/hr(lt1 is 24 lbs/hr). other than that, everything external to the engines is the same, even the intake manifold(and the cam).

IIRC, the 1993 Caprice didn't come with the 4.3 V8 engine....just a 5.0 and a 5.7 TBI :dontknow:.....

In that case, if you want the LT1 to be with the LT1 FI system, then you'd need the LT1 wire harness and computer.
If you're going to use the LT1 with a carb or with the TBI system, then you'll need the LT1 Carb manifold.....GMPP Part# 24502592.

I see I miss read it. the LO3(305) & LO5(350) assy's won't bolt up. the LT1 has no water pump pulley, since it is a mechanical water pump. Also, the LO* motors used a pulley spun air pump. The Assy's on the LT1 are farther away from the block, I think. As to clear the opti distributor, which is located right on the front of the cam. You will need LT1/L99 assy's, and brackets. Also, to keep the A/C system, you need to put a notch in the 93's frame, to clear the compressor. Then like mentioned, you need a Harness, and PCM. Lotta lotta work, but it will pay off. hopefully. I have seen quite a few decent LT1 caprices selling for about $1,500-$2,000. So unless the 93 is extremely clean, or jazzed up(paint, or other stuff), I don't know if I personally would go thru the work. But it can work.
also make sure the engine you buy is infact an LT1 350, and not the baby LT1, the L99 265(4.3).

If I had a very clean or jazzed-up' ;) 1993 or earlier Caprice and I wanted more power......serious power......LT1 level (or better) power, I'd do the following:
1. GM Performance Parts (GMPP) 383ci crate engine short block (has a 3.80" stroke crank)...Part # 12561723 available from Pace Performance Parts (http://paceperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=22861) or other GMPP dealers;
2. Vortec Bowtie heads, Part# 25534421;available from Pace Performance Parts (http://paceperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=104476) or other GMPP dealers. Note: these heads have a 65cc combustion chamber and the CR would be about 9.5:1 making premium fuel almost a requirement;
3. Exhaust System (headers) from Clear Image Automotive (http://www.clearimageautomotive.com/91%20-%2093%20Caprice.htm) and a 2 1/2" duel cat-back;
4. A hydraulic roller cam that's spec'ed along the lines of 210*/222* with about .540" lift (w/1.6 rockers) on a 110* LSA (get with Stroker Ace here on this forum.....he could help you with a correctly spec'ed cam :) !;
5. Custom Chip from PCM For Less (http://www.pcmforless.com/);
6. And since the above heads come with LT4 valve springs.....I'd have those removed and would replace them with some Comp Cams 26915 Beehive Springs (http://www.compcams.com/technical/Catalogs/106-07/288-290.pdf).
Now.....this is just what I'd do.
Best of luck!!

I realized once again I missed something. You can always get an LO5(the TBI 350 that came in pre 94 caprices), drop it in, and it will pretty much connect all up like the 305. few minor differences. they you can do a heads and cam package on it, and have a powerfull car with alot less hassle, and money.
HEY... I like the work jazzed up. It makes me think the car is snapping it's fingers, & enjoying itself while cruisin'. Kinda like the Taxi Cab in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" :D
