Your thinking is correct. That is alot of fuel for a cam only big block. Anything else done to the motor?

not too much, long tubes, new electronic ignition, new intake manifold, new wires, plugs, alternator, new 750 edelbrock, mild cam,new coil. what do yous think would be better? Like 2 600 cfm carbs? All thoughts are appreciated!!!!

Even that is alot. A duel carb setup is crazy. I would go with a 650 and jet it down.

I will say this you have to spin a motor pretty good to get power out of a tunnel ram.

If your son wants the tunnel ram look, then I'd go with two of the 390 CFM 4 bbl carbs. That's a total of 780 cfm and that would be enough to spin that big block to destruction. If you went with 650's or bigger, the car would bog terribly off the line and be a real dog to drive around. Even with the 2x390 cfm setup if you try to run mechanical secondaries, when they open, at low RPM the intake charge will get so lean that the car will fall on it's face.
I understand the cool factor of a tunnel ram but I honestly do not think it's the best choice. Been there done that in 1969 with a 440 Dodge Charger. I went from
2-650's (very very bad) to a single 1050 cfm Holley 3 barrel carb ( just one very bad) to a 750 double pumper that was just right.
IMHO..................Good luck

it I have seen a ton of guys running two 600 carbs sitting on top of wieand superchargers, if he is putting two on top of just a dual carb intake that is too much, IMO.
I have a 462 eng. in my street strip 69 bird, I run a 850
my uncles car has a 520 something cu. BBC engine he runs in limited street and has a holley 1200 on it.
I believe your boy has way too much carb, may be ok if he has a set of race ported canfield heads with a cam that has .700 lift or more and 13.1 compression, etc getting my point. just my two cents.
