Hi guys, im currently building a chevy 350, i got the systemax 2 holley top end package for the top end and i was looking at this scat rotating assembly for the bottom. The thing is the rod length is 6.000 instead of the stock 5.700. Good thing is the stroke is the same as stock. The Pistons that come with it are dished for a 12.9.3 compression.

Also my Camshaft is .490 intake .490 exhaust. Is it possible i might have my valve hitting the pistons with the longer rod? Will i run into any more problems with that rod length and dished pistons?

Thanks

PS: Heres the link to the rotating assembly: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SCA%2D1%2D90255&autoview=sku

i think you will be fine. as long as they arent domed pistons there shouldnt be any issues

With a dished piston you should be fine. You should always check your piston/valve clearance when assembling anyways.

The 6" rod isn't an issue. It just means the piston pin is higher up on the piston than a 5.7 rod and it actually helps relieve some stresses on the rotating assembly.

With 6.0 rods you use 6.0 shorter pistons so that doesnt mean your piston goes .3 higher so you should be fine . But I would check to be sure and a used head gasket would work well do to the fact its all ready crushed. What cc head are you running that would give you such a high CR with a dished piston?

From your Summit link:

"Piston Head Volume (cc): -6.26cc"

The "minus" sign means those are domed pistons.

Hence, the line above that says:

"Piston Style: Dome, with two valve reliefs"

Uh oh. Looks like they are indeed domed pistons. You think i will be fine still or do i need to adress anything else?

Do you really want to build an almost 13:1 CR engine? With that low lift cam, I think not.
