hey i broke down today and i don't understand why,? i put a coil on my car the other day because my took a crap. it was off an old car and the hood was up and it might have got wet inside. i was driving down the road today and the coil went again. what would the cause for that be i was going down the road and it just shut off. could it be that the coil was wet and when it heated up nit broke down.? i don't want to keep putting coils on the car and they keep dieing so i figured i would see if something could be causing this. Thanks for your help again. i seem to have the worst luck in the world with cars

Is the coil grounded well? Have you tested that new module? Did you put thermal grease under the module before install (not di-electric).

Is it remote coil or coil in cap, you do have the seperate ground strap installed inside the cap if a coil in cap right? Did you use the thermal compound or the crap that came with the module? Have a haynes or chiltons? In the back they have a wiring schematic you can trace. You first want to make sure none of the wires are frayed, cut etc. and you want to check all, and I mean ALL your grounds, particularly the ones in the back that people tend to forget about. See what you find and post up.

the module is not glued down i took it off a car that has been sitting here for awhile as in about 4 years and i honestly did not check the ground wires on my coil or ne thing i was along side a highway but when i go to work on my car tommarow i will check them. does the module absolutley have to be glued back down? i do not know what kind of mudule it is though. if my ground on the coil or something is that loose that could burn the coil right up??and i have a remote coil. im sorry if i didnt answer all your questions correctly but i am only 18 trying to fix a car lol i dont have much experience but im not in a situaion to take it to a garage. thank you for all your help.

Well, first check your wiring. The module isn't glued down, it has a bed of heat sink type compound underneath to dissipate the heat, if this is not there you can fry the module... which then can take out the coil. Using junkyard parts for things like this is hit or miss and makes working on your car that much harder.
