The shop is full of crap. The transmissions from 94+ are 100% electronically controlled...there's no shift cable at all.

"Passing gear" is a hillbilly term for downshifting at full throttle. There is no "passing gear", its just 1 gear lower than where you are at the moment you mash the gas to the floor.

Cables I can think of:

E-brake cable
Throttle cable (you'd know if this one isn't attached)
Cruise control cable

It may be an electrical connection and not some sort of cable.

Well there is the gear selecting cable thats hooked into your steering column. But as long as your car goes from park, neutral, reverse and drive then your fine. That has nothing to do with the way your car shifts/upshifts if you have in in OD.

You just got sold man...seriously take your car to another shop. They're jerking you around big time!

Post your question/issue here ---->> http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=5

There are at least 4 tranny builders/4L60E Specialists who frequent the Impala SS Forum who can help you with this problem.

It might help if you can post a couple of pictures of this cable.

And yeah.....never.....EVER.....take your car to that shop again!

it's the Gawd D*mn vent hose. if you are the guy I talked to on YouTube, about this, you need to listgen to these guys! If not, there is more than one retared shop cutting the vent hose because they think it's the downshift cable. :roflmao:
