Hey, I've been a doubter of these kits for quite a while, so I'm pretty skeptical. A local guy wanted one so we're doing the install, along with rebuilding the engine with Compstar rods and Diamond pistons, and a comp cam. Check out the 50+ pic's, we'll be firing it up real soon. Bob

Just please try and get some track times out of it...all the STS cars I've seen have been dyno queens...putting out gobs of peak power and not backing it up at the track...I'll keep an eye on it...

i have always questioned then wisdom in locating the turbo so close to the gas tank...

I don't really see a problem with that, it's routed in place of the factory exhaust. My thing is having the turbo soooo far away from the motor, among other things.

i may be off but i am pretty sure a turbo gets hotter then just exhast pipe.

We will indeed be seeing plenty of track time with this car, as the owner wants to hit the tracks. M/T drag radials will be used. Bob

good choice in tire....

What I'm saying is it's really not all that close to the gas tank the way it is routed to where I'd be worried about something blowing up/catching fire. I'd be more worried about heating up the gear oil in the rear end than the gas tank with where the turbo is located. The turbo runs about 500* cooler in the back then when in the engine compartment.

i was pretty skeptical about these turbo's having no lag.... but its dayum true. I currently have a 98 formula with a low compression 408 and a STS turbo kit on it with a 76 mm turbo on it in my garage that im doing some suspension work on and working out bugs here and there throughout the car. we dynoed this car at only 10 psi to keep it safe and just be able to drive the car so i can get the suspension down on it. It had no lag on the dyno what so ever. within the next couple weeks im going to be changing the heads from patriots to the new dart head and putting in headstuds and cometic gaskets. then turn the boost up anywhere between 20-25 lbs.

Jaber, believe it or not this turbo stays pretty cool being outside all the temp is escaping out into the air as opposed to the air being really hot under the hood

i wonder however is the lack of lag due to tubo efficancy or because a 408 puts out so much low end TQ that you cant tell?

you could be correct on the torque issue..... i can post up the current dyno sometime this weekend. again the car is only at about 500 hp on 10 psi.... and a motor with only 9.1:1 compression obviously this thing is capaible of more. i have been in this motor all week and i know this thing will handle 20+ lbs of boost after i get some new head stud or at least head bolts in the engine. I would really like to wait to do that until the new dart heads arrive so we wont have to change the tune before we turn up the boost but i dont think that will happen..... which means i have to go into this motor 2 more times in stead of once.

There are no track times until friday..... but those will NOT be the official times on this car. it will only be at 10 PSI only for some break in on the engine (still only has like 300 miles on it) and to get the suspension set up properly so we know the car will leave the line right.... we'll see i guess.

Rossler Built 4L60E. and the both of us will be driving throughout the day.... test and tune..... (this thing kicks like the TH400)

wired up and installed the line lock today. mounted the new FMU made sure all the 70# injectors were looking good and clean. new tr6's checked out the valvetrain. took out ac and front sway bar.

uh yeh ... tell him to start saving for a tranny... i dont care who built it, the 4l60 aint gonna hold 500+hp for long...

Rossler has a couple Ls1 cars in the 9's and a lot in the 10's with this trans.... im sure it will hold but i keep tryin to talk him into the th400 anyway.

yea well i know the rossler 400 is holding up in the worlds fastest syclone.
mid 9s with 4100 lbs but he doesnt use a trans brake due to the AWD.

but that trans is sooon gonna be testing the limits with the trucks new setup  :D

i question that brother.... i see one car in the 9's and one in the 10's
the 4l60 has never shown itself to be a solid proformer no matter who built it, just like you have examples of some of them that held together i have examples of 11 sec cars that have broken them(rossler)

i wish him the best, but the safe money is not with it lasting more then a feww passes...

banging head against a wall now.... after working on the car until 5 am to get it ready. we go to start it.... nothing...... ok.... one of the fuel pumps are not working now. so after an hour we figure out the MSD fuel pump booster is the culprit.... seems the realy took a dump. ok we hot wire it on a toggle switch for now. car starts....ok get the car on the ground it is now 5 am and we push it to the end of the street. ( we dont wake any neighbors..... i go to start it *Sqreeeeeeech* starter takes a big shit right there.... welp thats it so much for shakedown runs this weekend. we also decided the intake pipe under the car hangs too low for the car to be driven around right now anyway. and with one god launch on the track it will come down and hit the pipe hard. so the car is going to a welder over the week and having the cage put in and the pipe done.

nope not at all..... but it hink its all in the shocks right now the car is VERY stiff...... the fron end with that iron block is only an inch or two off the ground if that and the hals are spanned almost all the way up...... it needs a stiffer spring up front badly. and im still leanring how to use the double adjustables on the rear.....

i was keeping them to myself when they were priced about half as much, but the cat got out of the bag and now they are priced at what they are really worth, basically putting them out of my leage for now...
but if you got the dough then this is what you should be running ;)

trust me after spending 27K on his wedding in july, 30K on the formula mods alone, 6K in labor to the place who installed the motor/trans/turbo/rear, bought a newer excursion and a 26' enclosed trailor, plus about to spend about another 6K in the mods list i just gave him for me to install on the car.... i think he has the $ lol
