i'm rebuilding a 1993 chevy 350 and the crank sprocket for the timing chain does not have a mark but the cam sprocket does. which way does it go to be timed right?

thanks for any help

Im pretty sure if you bring the crank to #1 tdc and put the cam dot strait down you should be right on.

That is correct. It will put the engine in the #6 firing position (cam sprocket dot up is #1 firing position - doesn't matter which way you do it as long as you understand where you're at when you put the distributor in).

Are you reusing the timing sprockets? I know I've had difficulty finding the dot on some. the crank keyway is in line with the #1 crank throw, so if you put the slot at 45 degrees to the right, the dot should be there. Make sure you aren't looking at the back side of the sprocket.
