i have had problems with the water pump gear on the cam (comp) getting chewed off by the wp drive shaft on my 92 lt1 it hapened twice in the last 3 motors and was two different blocks 2 different ppro engine builders.. ive tried a meserie 55 gpm in the past with mixed results. i am a road racer and the car spins 6500-6800 have you guys had any experience with this ??? different cam i calleed comp and they said they,ve never heard of this.....
I think personally a electronic water pump is the way to go. Take that strain off of the cam gear, get yourself a regular timing chain for a vortech, have somebody weld up the hole in the cover and forget about it! I've got a CSR and the motor spins to 7K but i'm not a road racer. She's fine here.
You are talking about the cam gear on the timing chain right..cause there is no gear on the cam itself.

Yeah, the cam would have nothing to do with it. The teeth are on the cam gear, not the cam.
