What do they look for in a emission test I am thinking about moving to Fort Worth and my 94 TA some how or another lost all its emissions  could I get away with just putting cats on it for the sniffer or are they going to pop the hood and look for the air pump and egr and get all weird about the fact that I some how miss placed them and the computer has all those things deleted?

Depends where you live in Texas, here they don't do any emissions testing. Fort worth I think can be pretty tough.

Is there anywhere I can get a list of counties in TX that dont test.

Be easier to get a list of counties that do test. Pretty much all the bigger cities test, with San Antonio being an exception.

If you collect mail outside of the emissions testing zone...then you can just leave the county to get tested.

Fort Worth's emissions testing is demanding. They do complete visual and "sniffing" tests, and they are dyno driven. No cat delete will fly here. One solution would seem to be a dump in front of the cat, but the emissions control sytem must be intact. I imagine block off plates are illegal, but as long as the SES lite illuminates, and goes off, you should be ok. I wanted to run an LT4 hotcam so I could block the EGR off without emissions penalties. I still may if I have problems with the ZZ4 passing.

Fort Worth is in Tarrant county. A neighboring county like Johnson or Parker, are much less restrictive than the metroplex testing standards.
Dallas county is identical to Tarrant.
Hell, give a holler when you get here! Welcome, neighbor!

Can you simply drive to another county for inspection, or does the car need to be inspected where it's registered?

They go by county of registration, of course they do....:coffee:

I seem to remember something about Johnson county going this way too either this year or next. Not sure, though.
