Any of you 3rdgen guys ever put aftermarket race seats in your car?
Reason I ask, is because I bought a new seat for Rally (my 92 RS) and the seat tracks do not match up with the studs in the car where the old seat was.
I am hoping that I can swap the tracks from the old seat to the new seat and that will work.
:D

depends on the seat but im sure you could do it, you would just have to fab up some mounting plates to bolt the seat to the tracks.

A welder a drill and some plate typically work for me. Swapping the tracks sometimes works depending on the seats as mentioned.

Why are you swapping out to race seats? Autocrossing?

i bought a couple cheap APC racing seats a while ago. mine were falling apart and these were damn cheap. i bought them mainly because now i have a place to put my harness through. they are cheap as hell though, padding is getting flattened but down the road i might go with some SPARCO seats if the car deserves them

but back to the topic...i contacted a guy that made me some seat bracket adapters. he just needed the year and model car and what seat.

How light are the APCs?
I am looking into the plastic Jeg/summit seats due to price and weight. mine being a drag car only so ultimate comfort is not needed (more than 1/2 mile or about 60 seconds worth...)

i bet there are much lighter seats out there than my apc's...

i used to have a 1986 trans am(man i wish i still had it but was young and dumb and sold it really cheap $150 because i needed a car better suited for gas mileage at the time) ( im still kicking my stupid self) with racing seats in it and they even had the thick padding on them but they were so uncomfortable
